About the Role

As a key member of the Quality Assurance Team, you’ll help shape health and wellness outcomes for people around the world.

Responsibilities

- The Microbiology Technologist must have a sound understanding of the use/maintenance of various laboratory instruments (Biosafety cabinets, Incubator, Autoclave, and minor laboratory instrumentation), testing methodologies, fundamental laboratory skills (proper weighing techniques, pipetting techniques, aseptic techniques) and capability of interpreting microbial data and reporting results.
- The Microbiology Technologist must uphold a three-year diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in the laboratory science field at minimum.
- Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor of the Microbiology laboratory, the Microbiology Technologist will assist the Microbiology Supervisor in ensuring all Jamieson Wellness products have met all bacteriological criteria prior to use, sale, or supply by following all procedures and guidelines as prescribed by the Microbiology Laboratory department.
- Perform daily processing of all microbiological samples which includes preparing media and dilution blanks, sterilization of media, diluents, utensils and biological waste and proper record keeping of these activities.
- Perform QC testing of cultures, perform QC testing on prepared and purchased media for sterility and growth promotion tests.
- Perform microbiological analysis on raw materials, bulk products, finished products, stability samples and packaging components using the pharmacopeia (USP, EP, BP) or a recognized compendial (i.e., Health Canada BAM) methodology.
- Perform microbiological and/or enzymatic assays on raw materials and finished products using the pharmacopeia (USP, EP, BP) or a recognized compendial (i.e., Health Canada BAM) methods.




- Operation and maintenance of biological safety cabinets, autoclaves, incubators, balances, and all other equipment related to the Microbiology Laboratory.
- Maintain overall sanitation of the Microbiology Laboratory and its contents.
- Follow instructions and standard operation/testing procedures outlined for the Microbiology Laboratory, referencing the pharmacopeia (USP, EP, BP) or a recognized compendial (i.e., Health Canada BAM) methods.
- Perform microbial analysis on purified water, potable water, laboratory purified water, and for the other Jamieson Wellness facilities water weekly or as required.
- Perform environmental monitoring analysis of equipment, materials, and at all Jamieson Wellness facilities (active air, passive air, surface swabbing and compressed air) as required.
- Interpret microbial data, document test results as per SOP/STP and GMP, communicate results and complete written reports.
- Recognize out of specification (OOS) results or out of trend results and under the direction of Supervisor/Manager assist in the completion of lab investigations.
- Actively conduct (participate/lead) routine laboratory and non-conformance investigations.
- Perform laboratory validation, method verification and equipment qualification as assigned.
- Working in compliance with the company's Health & Safety Policies/SOPs including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure.
- Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. Facilities.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

- Three-year degree or diploma in microbiological or biological science related field from an accredited College and/or University or equivalent in experience.
- One (1) year experience in similar role is an asset.
- Conversant in USP, EP, BP pharmacopeia or a recognized compendial (i.e., Health Canada BAM, AOAC) methodology is an asset.
- Conversant in GMP/GLP requirements is an asset.
- Proficiency with application software (LIMS), Knowledge of Microsoft Office and efficient in Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Solid organizational, and analytical skill set.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support testing records, reports,



and investigations.
- Work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Able to work shift work, and to work overtime to complete projects in a timely fashion as may be required.

Compensation

Jamieson Wellness offers a competitive total rewards package designed to support your well-being and professional growth. This includes base pay, eligibility for our Short-Term Incentive Program, and a comprehensive benefits offering.

For this role, the posting range is $54,200 - $81,300 which reflects the full salary range of the position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, level of education, role scope, and other professional qualifications aligned with the requirements and complexity of this position.
