We are looking for a skilled and motivated Millwork CNC Operator to join our expanding team.
Job Summary The Millwork CNC Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machinery used in the production of custom cabinetry, millwork, furniture, and related components. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, technically capable, and committed to producing accurate, high-quality work while meeting production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC routers and other CNC machinery used in the production of millwork and cabinetry.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, cutting lists, specifications, and CNC programs.
- Set up CNC machines, including selecting and installing appropriate tooling.
- Load and secure materials properly before machining.
- Verify dimensions, materials, and machining requirements before production.
- Operate CNC equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining required production standards.
- Monitor CNC operations to ensure cuts, drilling, routing, grooves, dadoes, and other machining are completed accurately.
- Perform quality control checks throughout the production process.
- Measure finished components and confirm they meet drawings and specifications.
- Make basic machine adjustments and troubleshoot production issues when required.
- Identify material defects, machine issues, or programming errors and report them to the supervisor.
- Perform tool changes and routine maintenance of CNC equipment.
- Maintain CNC machinery and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Label, organize, and properly store completed components for assembly and installation.
- Work closely with cabinetmakers, designers, programmers, and production supervisors to ensure accurate production.
- Minimize material waste by optimizing layouts and following production specifications.
- Assist with other woodworking machinery and production tasks when required.
- Follow all company safety procedures, production standards, and quality-control requirements.
Additional Millwork Responsibilities
- Operate other woodworking machinery such as panel saws, edge banders, table saws, drills, and joinery equipment as required.
- Assist with cutting, drilling, edge banding, and preparation of cabinet components.
- Review completed CNC components for proper fit and assembly.
- Assist in resolving fabrication issues before components move to the assembly stage.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve production efficiency, accuracy, and material utilization.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating CNC machinery in a millwork, cabinetmaking, woodworking, or manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of CNC operating experience preferred.
- Experience with CNC routers and woodworking applications is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of measurements, dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Experience with CNC software/programs is an asset.
- Knowledge of cabinet construction and millwork fabrication is an asset.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic machine and production issues.
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a production team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced production environment and meet deadlines.
- Must be physically capable of lifting materials, bending, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must follow all required workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
