Position OverviewRodan Energy is a North American leader in distributed energy resources and energy intelligence, enabling a more reliable, cost‑effective, and decarbonized grid. In this senior technical role you will own a wide range of IT and OT systems, ensuring the company’s technology setting is secure, reliable, and high‑performing—from networks and servers to cloud platforms and cybersecurity systems.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Microsoft Azure environments, including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity services, backups, and replication.Manage Microsoft 365 services, including security, compliance, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and endpoint management via Intune.Support hybrid infrastructure, including Entra ID and Intune integration, and enterprise backup/disaster recovery strategies.Oversee overall IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise firewalls (on‑premises and cloud‑based), including rule sets, NAT, VPNs, site‑to‑site VPN connectivity, and security zones.Manage and monitor IDS/IPS systems, ensuring timely detection, alerting, and mitigation of threats.Design, implement, and maintain network and system security policies aligned with Zero Trust and defense‑in‑depth principles.Perform patching, updates, upgrades, and migrations for Azure resources, M365 services, on‑premises systems, firewalls, and security appliances with minimal disruption.Follow and contribute to formal change management processes, ensuring all infrastructure changes are properly reviewed, approved, and documented prior to implementation.Manage server, network, and security asset lifecycle, maintaining accurate inventories and documentation.Plan, scope, and deliver IT projects to enhance infrastructure efficiency, performance, and cloud resource optimization.Leverage AI‑powered tools to streamline workflows and increase productivity.Develop scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI, Python) to automate system, network, and security management tasks.Document IT and security processes, system configurations, firewall rule sets, and security policies.Proactively identify and present recommendations to optimize IT systems,
Microsoft Azure resources, M365 environments, and network security posture.Contribute to and monitor cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST CSF, Microsoft 365 security services (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Conditional Access, Intune), and Zero Trust principles.Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate risks across servers, endpoints, networks, firewalls, and security appliances.Utilize SIEM and XDR tools for threat detection, correlation, and incident response.Implement identity and access management (IAM) best practices, including Entra ID security policies, Conditional Access, and Intune compliance policies.Support audit readiness and compliance efforts, including NERC CIP where applicable.Contribute to internal security awareness efforts by providing guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity best practices.Provide technical support and guidance to staff for hardware, software, network, and security‑related issues, including Azure, M365, Intune, and secure remote access (VPN).Assist the IT Support Specialist and end users with escalated issues and day‑to‑day IT needs.Contribute to IT initiatives, providing technical guidance and support on strategic infrastructure and security projects.Key RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.5‑8+ years of experience in IT systems administration, networking, and IT support.Proven experience as a Microsoft 365 Administrator, including security, compliance, and Intune management.Advanced hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure administration, including VM management, Entra ID, networking, storage,
and hybrid integration.Advanced proficiency in Windows Server administration and Linux operating systems (intermediate level or above).Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).Hands‑on experience managing enterprise firewalls and IDS/IPS solutions.Experience managing enterprise networking equipment, including switches, wireless access points, and LAN/WAN infrastructure.Hands‑on experience with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and cybersecurity tools (SIEM, XDR).Experience in server, network, and security infrastructure maintenance, patching, and lifecycle management.Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure and enterprise backup/disaster recovery solutions, including cloud components.Experience with remote access technologies, including VPN configuration, management, and troubleshooting.Hands‑on experience with SIEM platforms for threat detection, log management, and incident response.Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI, Python) for IT and security automation.Strong communication skills, problem‑solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsProfessional certifications in Microsoft Azure/M365, cybersecurity (e.G., CompTIA Security+), or networking (e.G., CCNP).Experience with automation and workflow optimization tools, including Copilot Studio.Exposure to IT governance, risk management, or compliance audits.Experience with multi‑cloud environments.Familiarity with NERC CIP compliance standards.Experience with Microsoft Sentinel for SIEM, threat detection, and security operations.Familiarity with OT/ICS environments and the unique security and infrastructure challenges they present.Role DetailsRole Type: Permanent, Full TimeLocation: Hybrid – Mississauga HQ (3 days per week expected)BenefitsBase salary $80,000 – $110,000 plus bonusBenefits packageRRSP MatchOther InformationCriminal background check will be conducted as part of the hiring process.Rodan Energy Solutions is committed to an inclusive, accessible recruitment and employment experience in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).
