About the Opportunity Our client is a growing Canadian mining and battery materials company with international operations and a strong focus on the energy transition. With mining operations overseas and processing infrastructure currently under development, the organization offers an opportunity to join a growing finance team and gain broad exposure across financial reporting, tax, treasury, and operational finance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a
Senior Accountant
who wants to take on a broad role, work closely with senior finance leadership, and gain exposure to the full financial reporting cycle of a publicly listed company.
The Role Reporting to the
Director of Finance , the Senior Accountant will play an significant role in supporting the Company's financial reporting and day-to-day finance activities. You will work closely with the Toronto finance team as well as international operations and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
Support the month-end and year-end close process, including
GL reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, estimates and account analysis
Prepare and support
financial statements in accordance with IFRS
Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements for a publicly listed company
Support external audits and liaise directly with external auditors
Assist with corporate and international
tax compliance and filings , working with external tax advisors
Support
cash management, treasury activities and cash flow forecasting
Work closely with international operations and finance teams across different time zones
Assist with budgeting, financial analysis and other operational finance activities
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting workflows
Support the implementation and optimization of finance processes as the organization continues to grow
Take ownership of assigned projects and accounting areas through to completion
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
Approximately
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong experience with
month-end close , including reconciliations, journal entries and account analysis
Experience preparing or supporting
financial statements under IFRS
Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large datasets and financial models
Previous experience working with an
ERP system
is required
Assets That Will Help You Succeed
CPA designation or progress toward CPA
Experience supporting financial reporting for a
publicly listed company
Experience in
mining, natural resources, manufacturing, industrial or another complex operating environment
Previous
Big 4 or public accounting experience
Experience with
tax compliance and/or treasury
Experience with
Pronto ERP
is considered an asset
Experience with process improvement, automation or strengthening financial controls
Strong ability to work independently, take initiative and manage competing priorities
French language proficiency is an asset
