Position Summary
Beacon Children’s Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to support our growing pediatric OT program. The OTA will work under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist (OT) to deliver therapy sessions, support treatment plans, and help children build the skills they need to thrive.
Weekends and Evenings availability is a mandatory requirement for this role.
What You’ll Do
- Support occupational therapists in delivering therapy services.
- Assist with assessment preparation and implementation of treatment plans
- Work directly with children on therapeutic activities and exercises
- Help implement fine motor, sensory, and self-care interventions
- Document observations and progress under OT supervision
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare therapy materials and organize treatment spaces
- Assist with client monitoring and data collection
- Support parent/caregiver education under OT direction
- Maintain accurate records and communicate with the clinical team
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures
Requirements
- OTA certification or equivalent
- High school diploma minimum
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Passion for supporting children’s development
- Prior experience with pediatric clients (autism spectrum, developmental delays, or sensory needs) an asset
- Up-to-date CPR/First Aid credentials
- Clear Vulnerable Sector screening
- Understanding of OTA scope of practice under OT supervision (COTO guidelines)
Availability Requirements
- Weekend availability is required (Saturday and/or Sunday shifts)
- Flexibility to work a combination of weekday and weekend hours based on clinic scheduling needs
- Consistent, reliable attendance is essential to maintain continuity of care for clients
