Support student success at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as an Educational Assistant. This 17.5 hours/week position focuses on students with exceptional needs in a collaborative school setting. In this term role, you'll assist students with various disabilities, facilitate special programs, and support physical activities like physiotherapy.
You'll collaborate with teaching staff and contribute to a nurturing learning environment. Candidates should have a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child and Youth Care and a minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with special needs children. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with Autism and learning disabilities
- Collaborate on special programs and pool activities
- Manage yard duties,
lifting, and toileting tasks
- Maintain accurate records of student behavior
- Engage in assistive technology use and behaviour modification
Requirements:
- Diploma in relevant developmental service fields
- At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
- Trained in Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
- Strong observational and teamwork skills
