The District offers its respect to the Knowledge Keepers and all First Peoples who have been on these lands since time immemorial.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Health, Wellness & SafeguardingProvide leadership for student health, wellness, and safeguarding processesCoordinate responses to student health concerns, mental health needs, and wellbeing issuesServe as a key point of contact for health‑related incidents, medical emergencies, and student safety concernsSupport schools and homestay families in understanding and responding to student wellbeing needsEnsure trauma‑informed, culturally responsive practices are embedded in student support processesMonitor trends in student wellness to inform proactive interventions and program improvementsUpdate and develop materials supporting International Student health and wellness and communicate these with schools and other partnersAs required, accompany students on medical appointments, and meet with students regarding their physical, social, emotional and mental health concerns and needsProvide training to students and homestays regarding health and wellness topics, how to best acquire health care, procedures and medical insurance claimsCase ManagementHelp oversee complex student cases involving health, mental health, safety, attendance, or family concernsCoordinate with program leadership, school staff, counsellors, external health providers, and insurance providersSupport decision‑making related to medical consent, emergency response, and care planningMaintain accurate documentation and ensure appropriate confidentiality and compliance with privacy legislationParticipate in case conferences and support reintegration, transition, or repatriation planning where requiredWork with student medical insurance provider to support students' claims/inquiriesCustodianship & Emergency ResponseAssist the Director and leadership team in fulfilling custodianship responsibilities for international students, in accordance with participation agreements and regulatory requirementsSupport decision‑making related to student care, medical consent, emergency interventions,



and welfare matters when acting under delegated custodial authorityParticipate in the International Student Program emergency phone rotation, providing after‑hours and weekend support, as required, to respond to urgent student situationsCoordinate with schools, homestay families, emergency services, and district leadership during critical incidentsEnsure timely follow‑up, documentation, and communication following emergency responsesAccompany students to medical appointments and support students in emergency room and hospitalization incidentsAssistance with Monthly Activity ImplementationAssist with the communication of information about monthly activities with Agent partners, homestay families, school coordinators and program staffEnsure waivers and permission forms for school and program activities are completed thoroughly and accuratelyPolicy, Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure program practices align with district policies, provincial/federal regulations, and international student program requirementsContribute to the development, review, and implementation of health, wellness, safeguarding, custodianship, and risk‑management policiesSupport compliance related to student medical insurance, emergency protocols, and reporting requirementsSpecial Projects & Program DevelopmentLead and manage special projects, in collaboration with the Leadership team, that enhance student wellbeing, experience, and operational effectivenessSupport new initiatives such as wellness programming, safeguarding training, crisis‑response protocols, or student support toolsCollaborate on cross‑departmental initiatives involving student services, homestay, schools, and district leadershipAnalyze data and feedback to support continuous improvement and evidence‑based decision‑makingOther Special Projects may include editing of program resources and/or development of current programs and resources to help increase student well‑being and program quality, development of an outbound student program, or other emergent projects as assigned on District or program needsSummer Programs Support & OperationsAssist with the planning, organization, operation and supervision of International Student Summer ELL ProgramsSupport student wellbeing, supervision, safeguarding, and emergency response during summer programmingCollaborate with program coordinators,



schools, homestay providers, and activity partners to ensure smooth program deliveryContribute to operational planning, staffing coordination, and risk management for summer programsTraining, Communication & Partner EngagementDevelop and deliver training for staff, homestay families, and partners on student wellbeing, safeguarding, custodianship, and best practicesProvide guidance and consultation to schools and staff on international student health and wellness mattersCommunicate clearly and compassionately with students, parents/guardians, agents, and partnersSupport crisis communications and sensitive partner interactions as neededQualifications & Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in a relevant field (Health Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Public Health, or related discipline)Minimum 5 years of experience in student support, health and wellness, youth services, education, or a related fieldDemonstrated experience managing complex or sensitive cases involving youthStrong knowledge of mental health, safeguarding, and student wellbeing frameworksExcellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skillsValid driver's license, suitable drivers abstract & own vehiclePreferred / AssetsExperience working with international students or in multicultural environmentsKnowledge of school systems, custodianship frameworks, child protection legislation, privacy requirements, and homestay modelsExperience participating in emergency response or on‑call rotationsExperience supporting homestay operations or student housing programsExperience supporting or delivering short‑term or summer programsTraining in trauma‑informed practice, mental health first aid, or crisis interventionCore CompetenciesStudent‑centered and well‑being‑focused leadershipCultural competence and sensitivitySound judgment and discretionAbility to respond calmly and effectively in emergency and high‑volume situationsStrong collaboration across functional teamsExcellent organizational and prioritization skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsWorking ConditionsOffice‑based with regular interaction with students in school and school personnelParticipation in an emergency phone rotation, including after‑hours availabilityIncreased workload during peak intake and summer program periodsRegular engagement with sensitive or complex student situationsFlexibility to work and/or attend emergencies on weekends and evenings taking into consideration different time zonesFlexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings and some overnights to help supervise students in monthly sightseeing activitiesStarting Salary$85,422#J-18808-Ljbffr
