Position DetailsExisting Permanent. Full-time position.Salary Range:Starting salary at $67,100, based on a 35-hour work week, commensurate with education and experience.Location:Remote within Canada, with preference for Ontario.Closing Deadline:June 12, 2026 (11:59PM EDT).What You Will DoReporting to the Head of Conservation Programs, this position provides technical support, training, analysis and the development and maintenance of GIS databases, applications, and products that support DUC's vision and strategies. The GIS specialist will design and implement geospatial projects and applications in consultation with staff and partners to meet user needs within the Ontario operational team.Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Lead or participate in project teams providing GIS support, spatial analysis, modeling, and decision support.Develop, acquire, manage, and distribute geospatial databases and metadata in accordance with project plans and DUC standards.Provide GIS technical expertise and training in software, applications, and data use to enhance GIS skills among staff.Develop and document applications and projects in collaboration with other GIS/IS professionals.Manipulate remotely sensed data: Image processing, classification, accuracy assessment, archiving and distribution.RequirementsUniversity degree in GIS, Natural Resources, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science,



or related discipline; or Technical School diploma in GIS with several years related work experience.Minimum 3 years of relevant experience including the development and use of Natural Resources GIS applications using raster and vector data sets and GIS software, preferably ESRI products, including demonstrated experience in collection and processing of drone imagery to produce orthomosaic maps.Basic Drone Operator's License is required. Advanced or Level 1 Complex drone operator licenses are considered assets.Be proficient in ArcGIS online and portal.Work independently solving problems of highly technical nature within ArcGIS, remote sensing imagery analysis and drone operations in the field, as well as work in a team environment.Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.What We Offer3 weeks’ vacation with paid personal and sick daysComprehensive compensation & benefits packageHybrid work arrangementHow to ApplyWorking for DUC is a career highlight for many staff.
