Job SummaryAs a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesClean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuumingDry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors. (The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with handheld or auto scrubbers. In large open applications, automatic equipment may be used to perform these functions)Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when requiredTransport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactorTransport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sitesCleans and stores equipment and machinery usedCleans glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach.Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishingCleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are requiredLoads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutionsFollow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixturesOther duties that management may assignSteam clean or shampoo carpetsNotify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systemsMix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specificationsRemove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals.Job RequirementsExperience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.Experience in using floor maintenance machines,



cleaning equipment, materials and solutions.Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS.Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients and the general public.Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned as well as work in multiple locations.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.Licenses and Professional AccreditationMust meet security clearance requirements, where applicableMust have a valid Class G license (may be required)Physical DemandsThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.SalaryThis is a regular, full-time or part-time position with a salary range of $17.60 - $20.88 per hour.
