Executive Sous Chef

As Executive Sous Chef, you will work alongside the Executive Chef to lead a dynamic culinary team, oversee daily kitchen operations, and contribute to an innovative food program that delivers excellence across our restaurant, banquet, catering, and special event offerings.

About the Role Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Executive Sous Chef is responsible for supporting all aspects of culinary operations while ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, guest satisfaction, and profitability.
You will be a visible leader within the kitchen, driving operational excellence, mentoring culinary talent, and helping create an environment where team members can thrive and grow.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership for all culinary operations, including restaurant, banquet, catering,
and special event functions
Ensure consistency and excellence in food preparation, presentation, and service standards
Assist with menu development, recipe creation, costing, and seasonal offerings
Monitor and manage food costs, inventory controls, purchasing, and labour efficiency
Lead, mentor, coach, and develop culinary team members at all levels
Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management initiatives
Foster a positive and engaging team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, Occupational Health & Safety, and company standards
Collaborate with hotel leadership to achieve operational and financial objectives
Assume responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef
What We're Looking For Ideal Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in a hotel, resort, conference centre, or upscale restaurant environment
Demonstrated success leading high-performing culinary teams
Strong knowledge of food costing, inventory management, labour planning, and kitchen operations
Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Culinary Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Red Seal Certification considered a strong asset
Food Secure Certification or Provincial equivalent required
