Cedar Security

Toronto

Quick Summary

Cedar Security is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help oversee day-to-day operations for our security team across Ontario. In this role you will collaborate closely with the leadership team, taking part in hiring, training, employee development, and performance support, making sure every guard has what they need to succeed and our operations run with professionalism and integrity.

About Cedar Security

Cedar Security is a rapidly growing, 100% Canadian-owned and operated company with a presence across Ontario and Canada. Our philosophy is simple: we value our employees as people. We take employee retention, training, and ongoing development seriously. As our Operations Manager, you will be a key driver of that philosophy, building teams that feel supported, motivated, and proud to represent Cedar.

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Operations Manager to help lead our security portfolio across Ontario. This role will take you into the field regularly, where you will work alongside our teams, assess performance, and support our people directly. You will be responsible for the full employee lifecycle: attracting and hiring people of character, delivering robust training programs, providing ongoing support and coaching, and fostering an workplace where guards can thrive and advance.

Character, reliability, and leadership ability matter above all else.

Key Responsibilities

Hiring & Talent Acquisition

- Participate in full-cycle recruitment for our security teams, prioritizing character, reliability, and growth potential over simply filling shifts.
- Conduct interviews, background screenings, and onboarding to ensure every current hire aligns with Cedar’s values.

Training & Development

- Modify, coordinate, and deliver training programs that go beyond minimum licensing requirements, including use of force, arrest procedures, report writing, de-escalation,

and situational awareness.
- Provide site-specific orientation and ensure every guard receives the tools and knowledge needed to succeed before their first shift.
- Identify emerging talent and create development pathways toward supervisory roles or law enforcement careers.

Employee Support & Performance Management

- Act as the primary operational support for guards in the field, solving problems, providing real-time coaching, and ensuring they never feel alone on a site.
- Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and constructive feedback sessions. At Cedar we value one-on-one feedback, coaching, and support over write-ups and punitive measures.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and mutual respect across all sites.

Operational Leadership

- Oversee day-to-day operations for multiple sites, ensuring all shifts are properly staffed with qualified, well-prepared guards.
- Coordinate site schedules, manage last-minute absences, and ensure seamless coverage without compromising quality.
- Step into operational gaps when required, leading from the front.

What You Bring

- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence (or the ability to obtain one quickly).
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in security operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong background in hiring, training, and employee development. You genuinely enjoy building people up.

- Deep understanding of security operations in retail or similar environments (tactical/plainclothes retail security experience strongly preferred).
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills. You can de-escalate a tense situation with a guard as effectively as you deliver a team briefing or coaching session.
- Exceptional English written and verbal communication. You will regularly review and write incident reports, training documents, and internal correspondence.
- Proven ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- Proficiency with scheduling software, report writing systems, and general office technology.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C (or willingness to obtain).
- Clean criminal record.
- A professional, composed demeanor. You are a walking reflection of Cedar Security.
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for regular travel between sites across Ontario.

Most importantly, you lead with integrity. You care about the people on the front line and take every opportunity to help them succeed. When they succeed, we do too. Why Join Cedar Security?

- Be a core part of a rapidly growing, Canadian-owned company where your voice genuinely shapes how operations run.
- Competitive salary, benefits, and a leadership team that supports your growth.
- Work alongside people who take security, professionalism, and community safety as seriously as you do.
