JcoM Communications Inc. is a growing telecommunications and low-voltage contracting company specializing in structured cabling, fibre optics, CCTV, wireless, and communications infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced OSP Fibre Technician to join our Belleville team.

The Role The OSP Fibre Technician will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and service of outside plant fibre optic networks, including FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home) installations.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on fibre experience, takes pride in their workmanship, communicates well with customers and coworkers, and is comfortable working independently in the field.

Responsibilities

- Install, route, terminate, and splice fibre optic cable in outside plant environments
- Complete FTTH installations, including residential fibre drops and connections
- Perform fibre fusion splicing and work with FOSC (Fibre Optic Splice Closures)
- Complete fibre testing and certification using OTDR, power meters, and light sources
- Troubleshoot fibre optic systems and identify faults or issues
- Perform testing and documentation of completed fibre installations
- Read and interpret fibre plans, drawings, and project specifications
- Work with aerial, underground, conduit, and other OSP fibre infrastructure
- Interact professionally with residential and commercial customers
- Explain work being completed to customers in a clear and professional manner
- Provide excellent customer service and represent JcoM professionally on job sites
- Maintain clean, organized,



and professional work areas
- Follow all company and job-site safety procedures
- Work independently or as part of a team depending on project requirements
- Travel to various job sites as required

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of fibre optic installation experience
- Previous FTTH experience is required
- Robust hands-on experience with fusion splicing
- Experience working with FOSC and fibre splice closures
- Experience using OTDR testing equipment
- Experience with fibre testing, certification, and troubleshooting
- Experience with residential fibre installations and customer-facing service work
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Professional, courteous, and respectful when dealing with customers
- Ability to read and understand fibre optic drawings and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift equipment and materials and work from ladders or elevated work areas when required
