Manager, Social and Economic Development - Contract to Permanent - 19115Our client, a respected national not‑profit organization focused on advocacy, community engagement, and policy leadership, is seeking a energetic and compassionate Manager, Social and Economic Development to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong people leader who thrives in a mission‑driven environment and is passionate about supporting meaningful social impact initiatives across Indigenous and Northern communities.This role is ideal for someone who can confidently step into a fast‑paced environment, lead and mentor staff, coordinate multiple policy and community initiatives, and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving projects forward, supporting policy and advocacy activities, managing operational priorities, and helping shape initiatives tied to social and economic development programs.This opportunity begins as a contract engagement with strong potential to transition into a long‑term permanent position for the right candidate.ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership, mentorship, and day‑to‑day direction to a small team within the social and economic development portfolioSupport staff development, workload management, team collaboration, and operational prioritiesCoordinate and manage policy, advocacy, and community engagement initiativesDevelop and maintain workplans, project tracking tools, reporting schedules, and deliverablesSupport proposal writing, funding applications, reporting activities, and budget coordinationCollaborate with leadership, community groups, consultants, and external stakeholdersPrepare presentations, briefing materials, workshop content, and strategic documentsCoordinate meetings, workshops, travel logistics,



and stakeholder engagement activitiesSupport strategic planning activities and organizational prioritiesAssist with policy reviews, research initiatives, and program development activitiesParticipate in internal and external meetings with community partners and senior stakeholdersEnsure projects and reporting requirements are completed accurately and within timelinesFoster a collaborative, respectful, and culturally aware team environmentQualificationsPost‑secondary education in business planning, community development, sociology, gender studies, public policy, Indigenous studies, or a related disciplineMinimum 5 years of experience in policy, advocacy, planning, reporting, analytics, or program management environmentsPrevious experience leading or mentoring teams within a cooperative environmentStrong project management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skillsExperience coordinating reports, proposals, policy documents, or community initiativesExceptional communication and relationship building abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast‑paced environmentStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking capabilitiesExperience working with Indigenous communities or knowledge of Inuit social, economic, and political issues is considered a robust assetComfortable participating in workshops, consultations, and community engagement activitiesAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including ExcelAbility to travel occasionally, if requiredFluency in English is required.
