Key Responsibilities
- Front-line customer relations, food service and hospitality at the Enterprise Centre (EC), including greeting and escorting guests to dining, bar, and event areas, monitoring guest feedback, and escalating concerns to technologists or management to ensure student success.
- Work with food service operations software, including point-of-sale (POS) and reservation systems; process guest payments, retail sales and gift card payments, and balance cash floats daily as required.
- Reconcile daily sales reports and cash for processing and deposit.
- Restock retail displays, maintain the front desk, host stand and guest entrance, merchandise food service fridges and shelving, operate and replenish beverage stations, and ensure compliance with health and safety, sanitation, food service, and beverage regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- 1 year College diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years hospitality, retail or food customer service including cashier and merchandiser in a high-volume environment; experience in training staff on hospitality/retail floor security procedures.
Skills and Attributes
- Intermediate computer skills; knowledge working with POS operating systems, online food service reservation system and/or professional catering and event software is an asset.
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and work collaboratively within a team structure.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to discuss customers’ needs and preferences effectively.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision; solid time-management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and carry objects more than 20 lbs or 9 kg occasionally.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the polytechnic’s priorities on equity,
