Workshop Planner
(26 hours a week)
The main priorities of the Workshop Planner will be to build relationships within the community, and to develop an expanded offering of visual arts workshops to better reflect the cultural diversity within the community. The Workshop Planner will also be responsible for the management of Creation Station, its instructors, participants, programming, and supplies and equipment. This role will require careful management of revenues versus costs to ensure the sustainability of programming.
Job Duties
Community Relationship Development
- Build and maintain relationships with local artists, artisans, and cultural organizations across the Bulkley Valley and surrounding areas
- Conduct outreach to diverse communities, identify partnership opportunities and collaborative programming
Workshop Design and Programming
- Research and develop workshop offerings that appeal to a broad demographic
- Collaborate with artists and instructors to design accessible, engaging programming that reflects diverse artistic traditions and practices
- Create seasonal and annual workshop calendars that balance variety, community interest, and organizational capacity
Financial Analysis and Sustainability
- Analyze costs, revenue projections, and attendance data for each workshop to ensure financial sustainability
- Develop pricing structures and budgets that balance accessibility with operational viability
- Prepare regular financial reports and recommendations for program adjustments based on performance metrics
Office
- General office duties (cleaning, serving customers, running giftshop cash register)
- Assisting Gallery Manager with admin tasks
- Duties as required
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Networking/ partnership building experience
- Extremely well organized
- Adaptivity/ willingness to learn or take on current tasks and technology
- Competent with Excel, Word, and Google docs
- Cultural Awareness of local and surrounding communities (community groups, indigenous peoples, new immigrants, etc.)
- Knowledge of local artists and the visual arts scene or a background in visual arts is considered an asset
Experience is an asset but we are willing to train the right person with a "can-do" attitude! Regular hours will be Tuesday - Friday 10am – 5pm with the occasional evening or weekend shift.
The Gallery is closed in January, hours are reduced for that month. This is a year contract with possibility of extension dependent on grant funding. Listing will be open until the position is filled. Start date, as soon as possible.
