Consideration will be given to women, Indigenous people, visible minorities, and persons with disabilities.Overview The Consumer Protection Office administers consumer protection legislation for the province of Manitoba, including the Consumer Protection Act, the Business Practices Act, the Personal Investigations Act, the Hearing Aid Act, and bereavement legislation such as the Cemetries Act and the Funeral Directors and Embalmers Act, together with the associated regulations. The Office licenses, registers, or authorizes vendors and individuals engaged in direct selling, collection agents, hearing aid dealers, payday lenders, and high‑cost credit grantors, as well as funeral homes, funeral directors, embalmers, for‑profit cemeteries, crematories, and providers of pre‑arranged funeral services. It assists consumers in resolving complaints about consumer transactions and investigates breaches of legislation while providing information and education to consumers and businesses.DutiesAdminister consumer protection statutes and regulations, including bereavement legislation, to ensure the effective operation of Manitoba’s marketplace.Lead staff to achieve the branch’s expected outcomes, such as issuing licenses across a variety of program areas and providing information and mediation assistance regarding consumer complaints.Investigate complaints involving breaches of legislation and maintain an inspection program designed to educate businesses and increase compliance.Lead and manage the operational aspects of the branch,
