Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Physiotherapy Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support licensed physiotherapists by providing direct patient care, assisting with treatment plans, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will contribute to delivering exceptional rehabilitation services to a diverse patient population.
This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical skills in a dynamic healthcare environment while making a meaningful difference in patients’ recovery journeys. You must hold a bachelor's/master's degree in Physiotherapy as we are looking for a PTA who can assist the physiotherapist with treatment as well.
The hours will initially be Tuesday and Thursday's from 4-8pm (8 hours total) and will have the option to increase to 24 hours total a week
Duties
- Assist physiotherapists with patient assessments, treatments, and therapy sessions, ensuring proper setup and safety protocols are followed
- Support patients during exercises and therapeutic activities, providing encouragement and guidance to optimize outcomes
- Maintain accurate case management records, including documenting patient progress and treatment details using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Prepare treatment areas, sterilize equipment, and ensure all therapy spaces are clean, organized, and ready for use
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members in multiple languages including French and other multilingual capabilities
- Manage appointment scheduling using Microsoft Outlook,
ensuring efficient time management for both staff and patients
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing medical records, and processing documentation related to patient care
Requirements
- Previous hospital or clinical experience is highly preferred, especially in acute care or pediatrics settings
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and basic mechanical knowledge relevant to rehabilitation equipment
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in French or other languages is a significant advantage
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Word processing software for documentation purposes
- Experience with case management systems and patient care procedures is desirable
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team including nursing staff and other healthcare professionals
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated time management skills with the capacity to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Knowledge of nursing practices or pediatric care is a plus; acute care experience is highly valued
