Position Summary The Plant Engineer / Engineering & Continuous Improvement Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and optimization of plant facilities, equipment reliability, utilities, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides technical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations while driving operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies.

The successful candidate will lead engineering projects from concept through implementation, manage facility infrastructure, support manufacturing operations, and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Engineering & Facility Management

- Maintain responsibility for the plant's building infrastructure, utilities, and facility systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance strategies for facility-related equipment and systems.
- Manage facility upgrades, contractor activities, and site improvement projects.
- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction.
- Support maintenance teams in troubleshooting complex equipment and facility-related issues.
- Develop engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.

Project Management

- Lead capital investment projects from planning through execution and completion.
- Prepare project scopes, budgets, schedules, business justifications, and ROI analyses.
- Coordinate internal resources, contractors, vendors, and external consultants.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time,



within budget, and according to specifications.
- Manage equipment installations, plant expansions, process modifications, and automation initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans throughout project execution.

Continuous Improvement Leadership

- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Facilitate root cause investigations and corrective action plans.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, maintenance, quality, and operational effectiveness.
- Drive waste reduction initiatives and process optimization efforts.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement across all departments.

Manufacturing Support

- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Health & Safety, and Supply Chain teams.
- Provide technical support for production challenges and process improvements.
- Assist with capacity planning and manufacturing process enhancements.
- Support new product introductions and process validation activities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend implementation opportunities.

Leadership Responsibilities

- Lead cross-functional project teams.
- Mentor and coach employees on engineering and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Influence organizational change through effective project management and stakeholder engagement.
- Support employee development and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered a strong asset.

Experience

- 7+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of project management experience leading operational improvement projects.
- Demonstrated facility management and plant engineering experience.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement programs.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, utilities, production systems,



and maintenance practices.

Technical Skills

- Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

- Manufacturing automation and process improvement experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
