Position Title: Payroll AssistantDepartment/Section: Corporate ServicesEmployment Status: Contract Full TimePeriod: up to 12 MonthsTargeted Salary Range: $51,843.75-$61,563.71Work Mode: Hybrid (2 Days Per Week)Existing Vacancy: YesHours of Work: 37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday (flexibility required to work after hours as needed on occasion)Posting Open Date: Tuesday May 5th, 2026Key AccountabilitiesSupport the Payroll team with day ‑ to ‑ day payroll processing, including previewing and auditing payroll timesheets to ensure accuracyAssist with reconciliations, including benefits premiums, union dues, deductions, and basic accounting reconciliationsHelp prepare and process payment requisitions and support accurate employee deductions and adjustmentsSupport payroll reporting, documentation, and maintaining clear, well ‑ organized recordsProvide support during peak payroll periods, audits, HRIS initiatives, vacations, and year ‑ end activitiesMonitor and respond to basic payroll inquiries, escalating or collaborating as needed to resolve discrepanciesTake initiative to identify issues, ask questions, and contribute ideas to improve payroll processesQualificationsPost ‑ secondary diploma or degree in Business, Accounting, Payroll, or a related field,
or an equivalent combination of education and hands ‑ on payroll experience1–2 years of payroll experience, ideally in a payroll assistant or support roleFirst ‑ level Payroll Professional certification (NPI) completed or in progressSolid understanding of basic payroll concepts and basic accounting, including reconciliationsComfortable working with tight payroll timelines and fixed deadlines; flexibility to occasionally stay after hours during peak periods is requiredStrong attention to detail and accuracy - you take pride in getting things rightProficiency with Microsoft Excel (intermediate level for reconciliation tasks) and confidence using the MS Office SuiteExperience with payroll systems is an asset (ADP WFN preferred, but not required)A proactive, eager ‑ to ‑ learn mindset - you take initiative and look for ways to support the teamAble to work both independently and collaboratively in a quick ‑ paced environmentTotal RewardsComprehensive H ealth and D ental B enefit P lan.24/7 Employee and Family Assistance Program.Premium Defined Benefits Pension Plan Optional Enrollment.PERKS!
