The Play Leader develops and implements the daily and weekly program activities of the Recreation Camp programs in accordance to the theme set by the Recreation Program Lead. This position will oversee and facilitate drop-in programs held throughout the year, as required. This position reports directly to the Manager, Recreation, however, daily program direction and oversight will be provided by the Recreation Program Lead.

Duties: Develop, implement, and coordinate the daily and weekly program activities of the Recreation Camp programs Organize the appropriate set up and take down required for activities, including ensuring adequate supplies and equipment (e.g. craft supplies, etc.) are available Actively participate in activities, as required (e.g. field trips, swimming, etc.)
Ensure the daily cleanliness and organization of all areas Assist with the daily supervision and evaluation of junior staff, program participants, and volunteers to ensure safety at all times
Provide mentorship to junior staff and volunteers
Facilitate drop-in programs as per the direction of the Recreation Program Lead
Follow program policies and procedures as determined by the Manager Promote and demonstrate the High Five® and Physical Literacy principals Participate in the evaluation and recommendations for programs and events Actively participate in all training sessions and weekly in-services
Provide a high standard of customer service Assist with special events (e.g.
Canada
Day, etc.), as required Perform other related duties assigned Qualifications: Grade 12 Education or GED equivalent A minimum of one year experience in an office administration or customer service role preferably within recreation
Experience with recreational database or software systems is considered an asset
High degree of interpersonal and customer service skills with a preference for collaboration
One year experience with Point of Sale (POS) cash handling
Solid computer skills including MS Office
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to handle a fast-paced environment which at times can be stressful and difficult. The ability to obtain Intermediate First Aid with CPR Level C Organized, self-disciplined, self-directed and highly motivated Detail orientated, well organized, and demonstrated ability to show initiative Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or within a team
Ability to problem solve and be flexible
