Role Description The Postdoctoral Researcher (Coded Distributed Computing) is a full-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. The role involves conducting advanced research in coded distributed computing, including developing theoretical frameworks, designing algorithms, and implementing prototypes or simulations. The researcher will analyze data, prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications, present results at conferences and seminars, and collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and research partners.

Responsibilities also include contributing to grant proposals, participating in group meetings,



mentoring students in related projects, and supporting teaching activities related to distributed computing and applied physics where appropriate.

Qualifications

- Strong research skills in coded distributed computing, including theoretical modeling, algorithm development, and scholarly writing.
- Proficiency in data analysis and quantitative methods, with experience handling complex datasets and interpreting experimental or simulation results.
- Laboratory skills or equivalent experimental/computational experience relevant to distributed computing, simulation environments, or high-performance computing platforms.
- Teaching, mentoring, or supervision experience, including supporting graduate and undergraduate learners in research or coursework.
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline (completed or near completion).
- Experience with programming languages and tools commonly used in distributed computing (e.g., Python, C/C++, MATLAB, parallel computing frameworks) is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse research environment, manage multiple projects, and communicate complex ideas clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
