DUTIES &

RESPONSIBILITIES Be very familiar with all safe work practices as set out by IHSA and company standards and work in conformity thereto.

Using approved live line techniques, the power lineperson will construct and maintain lines and equipment energized from 120 volts to 44,000 volts on both overhead and underground plant applications.

Set foundations for pad mounted equipment and install transformers and switching devices.

Be able to operate bucket trucks, radial boom derricks, tensioning machines for stringing operations, underground fault locating equipment, cable tracing equipment, hydraulic equipment and all other tools used in line maintenance and construction. Must be able to operate boats, ATV’s, snowmobiles, and off-road equipment if trained to do so. Be familiar with measurement devices and carry out test procedures as required, testing for potential, measuring current using clip on ammeters, measuring withstand voltages with hi-pot equipment and location of cable faults.

Be familiar with and carry out live line work practices and techniques on the systems including Bare Hands Techniques, stick work and rubber glove techniques.

Must understand and comply with Ontario Traffic Manual, Field Book 7, IHSA, OHSA, Reg. 22/04, and other policies and procedures.

Respond to trouble calls and public emergencies regarding power outages, unsafe situations, service reconnections, or enlisting assistance from co-workers and dispatch as required.

Be available to perform regular stand-by duty and emergency call outs.

Travel to other areas within Elexicon’ s jurisdiction to help with emergency restoration including overnight trips.





Other duties as required may be considered part of these responsibilities.

KEY SKILLS &

QUALIFICATIONS Overhead/underground maintenance and construction, organization, communication and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, Reg. 22/04, Book 7 Traffic Control Knowledge and proficiency with: Live Line Techniques

Barehand work

Rubber glove work

Forklift Operation

Conductor Stringing

Chainsaw Safety and Technique

Propane Safety TDG Transportation of Dangerous Goods Crane Hoisting and Rigging MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Candidates must be registered with the College of Trades as a Power Line Technician; Must have at minimum completed Level 1 apprentice requirements and qualified to be a Level 2 apprentice or be a Journeyperson Lineperson / Powerline Technician Certification (Red Seal certification is preferred) C.V.P./Reg.2204 training

Working at Heights Certification

Class AZ/DZ driver’s license

Chainsaw Operation (preferred)

Propane Certification (preferred)

Lift Truck Certification (preferred)

Work Protection Code Certification

CPR/First Aid Certification

Live Line Techniques (preferred)

Underground Proficiency (preferred)

Compensation Package: Hourly rate between $39.09 - $55.84, as per our collective agreement with Power Worker's Union (PWU) + Advantages + OMERS Pension Plan The above range reflects the reasonable estimate for the position at the time of posting. Within the range, hiring compensation will be determined based on relevant qualifications, experience, skillset, education/ training, and other organizational needs.
