Thrive Creative Inc. | Calgary, Alberta | Hybrid | Full-time, permanent
Most product roles put you three or four people away from the person whose problem you are solving. Sales talks to the client, product talks to sales, design talks to product, engineering talks to design, and by the time the work reaches a developer nobody in the room has spoken to the founder.
This role removes all of that. You are the first person a prospective client talks to, and you are still their point of contact when the thing they asked for ships.
WHO THRIVE IS
Thrive Creative Inc. is a Calgary software development company. Our clients draw on us as their on-demand engineering department: developers, designers, data and AI specialists, and technical leadership. Some need one developer for a few weeks. Some scale up to a full team for a funding milestone and back down to nothing when the quarter is quiet.
We bill for hands-on engineering only. No charge for meetings, planning, or account management. One rate across every discipline, no minimums, no lock-in, and the client owns everything we build. We also go after government funding on our clients' behalf and pass the proceeds to them, at no separate fee.
Most of the people you will talk to are founders, CEOs, and operators. Some are technical, many are not. A lot of them have built something themselves and have reached the point where it needs real engineering behind it.
WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO
You take the inbound conversations Thrive generates and turn them into relationships. That means asking the questions that surface what the business is really trying to do, not just what feature they came in asking for. Most people arrive with a solution already in mind. Your job is to get to the problem underneath it.
Once a client is on board, you own the product direction with them. You work out what should get built and in what order, you make the case for it, and you translate it into work our engineering team can execute against. You are paired with an engineering team lead on each account who sits in the same client conversations you do, so you are not carrying the technical side alone.
You stay on the account after that. As you learn a client's business you will see things they have not asked for yet: a workflow worth automating, an internal system holding them back, a next product they have not scoped. Bringing those forward is part of the job. Growth here comes from knowing the business well, not from working a pipeline.
You will do this across several clients at once, in different industries, at different stages. The variety is the point. It is also the hardest part of the job.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You might be a Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, Product Owner, consultant, or a commercially minded operator who has been doing this without the title. What matters is how you think.
You are comfortable in a room with a business owner and can hold your own in that conversation. You ask valuable questions and you are genuinely curious about why a company works the way it does.
You can work with senior engineers without needing to be the most technical person present. You are comfortable making a call with incomplete information, because founder intuition often drives what gets built and your job is to steer it rather than replace it with six weeks of research.
If you are looking for a single product, a fixed roadmap, and a textbook agile ceremony every second Tuesday, this will frustrate you. If you have been quietly convinced for a while that product work is changing, you will recognize what we are building.
WHAT IS BEHIND YOU An experienced engineering team covering product, design, development, QA, infrastructure, and technical leadership, plus a network of over 50 specialists we bring in as work requires. Marketing and lead generation that fills the top of the funnel, so you are not cold prospecting. Senior people who join you when a conversation turns technical, and who scope the work with you rather than handing you a number to defend.
COMPENSATION
Base salary plus a recurring performance bonus tied to the total volume of work under your management. As the accounts you own grow, your bonus grows with them. It is structured to reward keeping clients and growing them over years, not closing a deal and moving on. We will walk through the full structure and numbers on the first call.
