Children's Wellness Worker - Summer Student3 days ago Requisition ID: 1067SUMMER STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITYChildren’s Wellness Worker – Family & Community Support ServicesSalary Range: $18.15 /hr (dependent on experience)JOB SUMMARYThe Children’s Wellness Worker Assistant will assist the Children’s Wellness Worker in offering a culturally integrated and holistic approach to health and wellness of children. They will promote a culturally safe, healthy, and supportive environment that instills a sense of dignity and respect.POSITION DUTIESSupport to FamiliesThe Children’s Wellness Worker Assistant will provide assistance, guidance, and support to Sagamok Anishnawbek children who are seeking to strengthen family units, promote wellbeing and address various challenges faced by the family as directed by the Children’s Wellness Worker.Assistance includesLead small or large groups on crafts, swimming, kayaking, archery, family night, and various other camp exercisesMonitor children to identify and respond to unruly behavior or deviations from camp guidelinesContact parents to relay information regarding their children’s camp experience and behaviorMaintain accurate record of camp activities and data such as attendance logs and incident reportsImplement policies for the safety of campers, equipment, and personal propertyAct as a role model for campers in activities which require cleanliness, punctuality,
and sportsmanshipAdminister emergency safety procedures such as CPR and first aid as may be requiredCollaborate with Children’s Wellness Worker to develop and execute plans for daily activitiesEstablish camp regulations and guidelines necessary to maintain order within camp premisesConduct inspections to ensure camp environment is clean and free of hazardLead campers in fire drills, as well as teach them emergency procedures and survival skillsMediate disputes or conflicts between campers to ensure a peaceful environmentParticipate in singing, storytelling, and sporting activitiesTERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTValid driver’s license and vehicle for on-the-job use.Must be able to work flexible schedule.Sign and maintain an annual oath of confidentiality.Secure and maintain certification in Privacy and Confidentiality.Must provide a criminal record check prior to commencing employment.Incumbent is subject to three months’ probation.QUALIFICATIONSA high school student with previous experience working with children.Knowledge of sports, arts, or crafts is also necessary for the position.Babysitting Certifications and/or first aid and CPR administration are an asset.Participate in cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity training.Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to understand and speak Ojibwe will be considered a definite asset.Local knowledge and understanding of Sagamok Anishnawbek’s services and will be considered an asset.Qualified candidates are invited to submit their cover letter and resumé.Sagamok Anishnawbek Fulltime Students (must be returning to school fulltime this Fall)Preference will be given to students who qualify for the ISET Subsidy Program#J-18808-Ljbffr
