POSITION: PRODUCTION ENGINEER

Production Engineering at Greenfire Resources plays a key role in optimizing asset performance, supporting operational excellence, and enabling future growth. This position suits a hands-on, technically focused engineer who can translate production engineering analysis and strategy into practical day-to-day operating plans across Greenfire’s SAGD assets.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Greenfire’s Calgary office. The role follows a seven-days-on/seven-days-off rotation in support of 24/7 operations. Occasional travel to field locations, including periodic field-based shifts, may be required to support operational, growth, and strategic initiatives.

The Production Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team spanning Production Engineering, Facilities Engineering, and Operations. The role requires sound technical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to balance production optimization, facility constraints, and safety to maximize daily production and asset value.

1. Support asset-level performance by working alongside Production and Facilities Engineering to translate daily execution plans into operational priorities.
2. Chair daily asset-performance meetings to review the previous 24 hours; identify current and emerging risks, production losses, constraints, and optimization opportunities; and establish recovery plans and timelines for upset and production-loss events.
3. Identify deviations from production and reservoir targets, troubleshoot well performance, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate execution with field and control-room personnel.
4.

Maintain strong working relationships with control-room operators and field personnel, providing clear shift plans and tools that support effective decision-making and safe, efficient execution.
5. Support planned and unplanned outages by identifying production-sheltering and recovery opportunities and by incorporating reservoir-management requirements into shutdown, restart, and ramp-up plans.
6. Provide remote technical troubleshooting for SAGD wells, artificial-lift systems, gathering systems, and associated production, with support from site Operations and other technical disciplines.
7. Develop, maintain, and communicate well-testing and fluid-sampling schedules, and monitor execution and data quality against established requirements.
8. Ensure corporate safety and regulatory standards are correctly interpreted and applied in all decision-making.
9. Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET:

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and registration with APEGA required.
- 3+ years’ engineering experience, with preference well production and SAGD experience.

- SAGD Well Optimization;
- Artificial lift systems (e.g. gas lift and ESP systems);
- Subsurface wellbore design;
- Drilling, Completions and SAGD facilities.
- Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics .
- Well Integrity
- Experience with oilfield software for production accounting, drilling and completions data management, and data visualization (e.g., WellView, Power BI, PARCview) is an asset.
