Responsibilities:

JBH is currently recruiting for a temporary full time Professional Practice Educator (PPE) to join our Medicine Team.

Reporting to the Manager, Professional Practice and Director of Medicine, Post- Acute, Access & Flow and Diagnostic Imaging, the Professional Practice Educator will work in partnership and in collaboration withthe Medicine Manager, Program Leadership and the organizations Professional Practice and Clinical Leadership Teams.

This position provides nursing education and training for practice and quality initiatives across the organization. The Professional Practice Educator provides leadership in clinical nursing education and advances evidence informed person-centred care in an interprofessionalpractice environment. The PPE will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs to build andenhance clinical practice competency, foster knowledge translation and contribute to high quality patient outcomes.

The Professional Practice Educator facilitates and supports reflective practice, continuous learning,



professional development,and service excellence through serving as a professional practice role model and leader. The Professional PracticeEducator will also contribute to organizational deliverables including new hire orientation and onboarding, studentcoordination and corporate committee membership.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong ability to implement strategies based on best practice standards that effectively facilitate change, and knowledge transfer

Qualifications:

- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse(Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario) required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education or other related Health field required. Will consider applicantswho are within one year of completing a Master’s program
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant clinical experience in medicine nursing and acute care nursing experience within the last 3 years required
- Coronary Care 1 required
- Certification in Adult Learning and Leadership preferred
- Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the applicability to the practice setting
- Evidence of strong clinical knowledge and sound decision making
- Demonstrated nursing leadership to advance evidence based inter-professional patient centered models of care and care delivery
- Knowledge and experience with using and interpreting quality metrics and change management methodologies required
- Knowledge and experience conducting learning needs assessments and developing comprehensive education plans




- Knowledge and experience utilizing adult learning principles for curriculum development and staff education with a proven ability to design, deliver and evaluate programs/educational sessions
- Demonstrated proficiency with knowledge transfer, program development and implementation, project and change management, and evaluation skills relative to clinical practice and the practice of education
- Committed to excellence in all elements of professional practice, including excellence in patient care processes, measuring outcomes, collaboration, and qualified growth through education and research utilization
- Innovative, creative and professional role model
- Ability to prioritize/organize multiple projects with strict deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously
- Develop and sustain collaborative relationships both internally and externally within the community and with academic partners to promote practice excellence
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, organizational time and change management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
