Position Summary

Skillcity Institute is seeking an energetic and resourceful Program Facilitator to deliver engaging STEM and career exploration experiences for young people. The Facilitator will organize and lead hands-on challenges, workshops, career activities and special events that help participants discover their interests, develop practical skills and explore future education and career pathways.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and facilitate hands-on STEM, digital skills and career exploration activities.
- Organize team challenges, design projects, demonstrations, competitions and showcase events.
- Support activities involving robotics, coding, engineering, 3D printing, VR/XR and other STEMCEL equipment.
- Connect activities to real-world careers, industries and transferable skills.
- Create welcoming, inclusive and neuro-affirming learning experiences for youth with different abilities and learning styles.
- Encourage teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, communication and confidence.
- Coordinate activity materials, room setup, equipment care and participant safety.
- Assist with youth registration, attendance, progress tracking and program documentation.
- Engage guest speakers, career mentors, volunteers and community partners.
- Collect participant feedback and contribute to program evaluation and reporting.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Qualifications

- Diploma, degree or relevant experience in education, STEM, youth work, career development, community services or a related field.
- Experience facilitating workshops, camps, clubs or group activities for youth.




- Solid communication, organization and youth-engagement skills.
- Comfortable learning and using STEM tools and educational technology.
- Able to translate technical concepts into fun, accessible activities.
- Creative, dependable, adaptable and confident managing groups.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion and culturally responsive practice.
- Standard First Aid/CPR and a satisfactory Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, are required or must be obtained.

Assets

- Experience with robotics, coding, electronics, 3D printing, drones or VR/XR.
- Career-development, mentoring or workforce-readiness experience.
- Experience supporting racialized, newcomer, low-income, neurodivergent or otherwise equity-deserving youth.

What Success Looks Like Young people leave STEMCEL feeling curious, capable and more confident about their skills. Activities are safe, engaging, well organized and meaningfully connected to future careers, not simply entertaining projects, but opportunities to discover what participants can do and who they can become.
