The Youth Worker role is a fundamental role at Our Place Peel to support the youth within the housing first framework that is strength‑based & trauma‑informed. The shift runs from 11:00 pm to 9:00 am on a 5‑week rotation.Role OverviewResponsibilities:Complete intakes and support with facilitating programs for youth entering the shelterLead and implement client‑driven care path plan by following up with residents on outstanding documents or actions requiredProvide a positive environment for youth coming to the shelterForm qualified relationships with a broad spectrum of community service agencies to refer youthAssist youth in daily routines including cooking, cleaning & life‑skills developmentComplete intakes, answer phones,



& monitor the building for safety including hourly security checksProvide supervision, support &/or crisis counseling to residents living at the shelterMaintain positive & open communication with the staff teamComplete documentation of shift activities & incidents in appropriate logs & client recordsEnter client data for monthly, quarterly & annual funding reportsSupport facilitating the weekly resident meetingsQualificationsDiploma in Social Services or equivalent combination of education & experience1–2 years experience working with youth in a shelter/residential settingKnowledge of homelessness, mental health & addictions an assetKnowledge of housing first for youth, trauma‑informed care & harm reduction practices an assetKnowledge of resources within the Region of Peel, specifically for youthEffective problem‑solving, conflict resolution & crisis intervention skillsStrong written & verbal communication skillsAbility to work rotating shifts including some weekends & holidaysA valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle & $2,000,000 (minimum) liability car insurance coverage are mandatoryValid CPI/UMAB & First Aid/CPR certificationsSatisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check that meets Our Place Peel standardsMust be flexible to work at Brampton &/or Mississauga locationMust be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19, subject to applicable legislationJob Type: Full‑Time, unionized roleAddress7040EdwardsBlvd, MississaugaOur Place Peel is an equal opportunity employer.
