we would love for you to join our team!RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares nutritious meals and snacks for the licensed childcare programs according to a planned rotational menu. Ensures safe food handling practices are observed, and dietary needs and allergy restrictions of the children and/or center are met.Responsible for day‑to‑day food preparation including lunches and snacks according to the YWCA Hamilton’s pre‑determined menu plan; Prepares all foodsin a timely fashion in order to follow classroom(s) schedule; Responsible tochange menu items as needed due to allergies, and dietary restrictions; Adheres to monthlybudget to accommodate the menu; Ensuring the safe handling and storage of all food items; Assists with the general care of children in the licensed child care center as required; Ensures positive, professional communication with families on an ongoing basis, and responds promptly to all requests, queries and concerns; Ensures compliancewith YWCA policies and procedure and the Child Care and Early Years Act; Ensure compliance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act; Participates in career development including staff meetings, workshops and training; Supports YWCA Hamilton mission,



vision and values; Perform other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma – 18 years or older; Diploma or certificate in food services is an asset; Some professional training as a cook is an asset; Experience preparing food, including preparing for children with allergies, and an awareness of religious and alternative dietary restrictions is an asset; Experience in a licensed child care setting is an asset; Current Safe Food Handling certificate or ability to obtain prior to start; Must provide acurrent Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost; Ability to bring afeminist, anti‑racist/anti‑oppressive perspective to work; Must provide aTB test, proof of Tetanus (within 10 years) and proof of MMR immunizations; Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.As part of YWCA Hamilton’s commitment to Access and Equity, we strive to represent the diverse communities that we serve.
