Construction Project Lead
About Kennedy Contracting Inc.
Kennedy Contracting Inc. is a residential general contractor serving the Simcoe and Muskoka areas. Our work is diverse and includes complete renovations, additions, current builds, cottage construction, decks, exterior work, landscaping, hardscaping, site work and general residential construction.
We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Lead who can take responsibility for the day-to-day execution of our projects in the field.
This is not strictly a carpenter position.
We need someone with broad construction knowledge who can plan work, lead employees, coordinate subcontractors and materials, solve problems and independently move a project forward.
The Position
As Construction Project Lead, you will be the primary Kennedy Contracting representative on assigned jobsites.
You will work directly with the owner to understand the project scope, drawings, specifications and schedule, then take responsibility for executing the work in the field.
The right person should eventually be capable of being handed a project and running its day-to-day construction without requiring constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day execution of residential construction projects
- Plan daily and weekly work activities
- Direct and supervise labourers and other field employees
- Review drawings, scopes, specifications and project requirements
- Perform layout and verify critical dimensions and elevations
- Coordinate materials, deliveries, equipment and subcontractors
- Prepare material lists and anticipate upcoming requirements
- Maintain project schedules and identify potential delays
- Ensure work meets Kennedy Contracting’s quality standards
- Identify and solve construction problems as they arise
- Monitor productivity and keep projects moving efficiently
- Maintain clean, organized and professional jobsites
- Protect clients’ homes, property and completed work
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and subcontractors
- Identify potential extras, scope changes and unforeseen conditions before proceeding
- Provide concise progress updates to the owner
- Maintain and enforce appropriate jobsite safety practices
- Assist physically with construction work

- Coordination of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, painting, masonry and other subcontractors
You do not need to personally perform every trade. However, you need enough construction knowledge to understand proper sequencing, recognize quality work and coordinate multiple disciplines effectively. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate:
- Has several years of broad residential construction experience
- Has experience leading projects, crews or significant scopes of work
- Understands residential construction sequencing
- Can read and interpret construction drawings
- Can accurately measure, lay out and plan construction work
- Can lead and teach less-experienced employees
- Plans ahead rather than waiting for problems to occur
- Is organized and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Has strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Takes pride in high-quality workmanship
- Understands that productivity, material management and efficiency matter
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Is comfortable interacting with clients and subcontractors
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Is reliable, punctual and accountable
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence
- Reliable transportation
- Residential construction experience
- Comfortable using common construction tools and equipment
- Ability to perform physically demanding construction work
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Appropriate safety training or willingness to obtain required certifications
WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR and equipment-related certifications are considered assets. Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Ability to commute/relocate
- Washago, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
