- Work location arrangement: Fully on site – the position requires 100% on site placement; it is operationally dependent based on established criteria; remote work is not an option.
- This position requires daytime, evening, and weekend work based on operational needs.
- Salary: $40.88 – $53.79 per hour (as per ONA Collective Agreement)

Position summary

We are currently seeking highly motivated health professionals to contribute to respiratory vaccination clinics throughout the districts Public Health Sudbury & Districts serves, and contribute to our organizational mission of working with our communities to promote and protect health and prevent disease. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Public Health Nurses will specifically support respiratory vaccination clinic operations including immunization administration, cold chain maintenance support, data management, and quality assurance. The Public Health Nurses may also support other aspects of the Vaccine Preventable Diseases Program.

Responsibilities

- Provides vaccines in office clinics and community settings following public health standards.
- Monitors and manages vaccine storage and handling to maintain potency and comply with protocols.
- Assist with set-up of waiting and vaccine areas
- Accurately enters and updates immunization records in Panorama and maintain confidentiality.
- Provides clear, respectful education and guidance to clients, families, and community partners.
- Addresses issues related to vaccine delivery, documentation, and client concerns promptly.
- Works closely with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to achieve program goals.
- Responds to emerging public health priorities and adjust clinic operations as required.
- Ensures compliance with documentation standards and program protocols.




- Uses clinical skills to assess the client’s health status and eligibility for immunization as per medical directive, and to enable joint planning, implementation, and evaluation of appropriate nursing interventions.
- Monitors and responds to clients following immunization for signs and symptoms of adverse reactions.
- Provides nursing care and counselling on health-related issues.
- Supports the essential duties of other public health nurses in their absence.
- Maintains documentation records according to the standards of the College of Nurses and provides reports.
- Participates in media interviews.

Requirements

- Recognized Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing Degree.
- Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current CPR level C certification.
- Minimum 3 years public health experience preferred.
- Minimum of one year full time equivalent experience (within the last three years) in the area of vaccine administration.
- Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience in the area of medication administration (within the last three years) or successful completion of a Medication Administration refresher course (within the last two years).
- Proficiency in administering injections as authorized under the Controlled Acts (Nursing Act 1991).
- Knowledge of the publicly funded vaccine schedule.
- Competency to work under the authority of medical directives.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment.
- Skills relating to public and media relations.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Non-judgmental and client-centered approach to service planning and delivery.
- Ability to work under pressure, to anticipate potential problems/conflicts, and take appropriate actions.
- Demonstrates computer proficiency.
- Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is required.
- Advanced proficiency in the French language is an asset.




- Satisfactory criminal reference check (vulnerable sector) is a condition of employment.
- Maintains current Ontario driver’s licence and has access to a reliable vehicle with agency required insurance.
- Must have transportation to and from various vaccination clinic sites.
- Must have a personal cell phone (smart phone) with Internet access and be willing to download an application to confirm identity via two-factor authorization
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
