Judicial AssistantSalary: JA1 $58,498.00 - $68,654.00 per year plus Remoteness Allowance, if applicable.Location: Thompson, MB. Regular full‑time position with Manitoba Justice, Judicial Services, Courts.Closing Date: May 24, 2026.The Manitoba government recognizes the importance of building an exemplary public service that reflects the citizens it serves. An eligibility list may be created for similar positions and will remain in effect until exhausted.ResponsibilitiesProvide administrative support services to judges of the Provincial Court as assigned.Prepare case management reports and process court judgments, including proofreading and researching legal texts for citations and quotations.Maintain filing systems and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.Coordinate meetings and make travel arrangements, prepare expense claims.Assist judiciary, court staff, government departments, the legal profession and the public in a professional manner while applying appropriate discretion.Work primarily independently with minimum supervision, while collaborating with a team of colleagues who may require backup support.Essential QualificationsExtensive experience as an administrative or executive assistant in a court or legal‑related environment and experience providing support to multiple supervisors at one time.Excellent verbal communication skills.Excellent written communication skills.Excellent proofreading and editing skills with an understanding of the proper case, statute and neutral citation standards.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with the legal profession, the general public and other stakeholders.Proven organizational skills with the ability to meet workload demands and deadlines.Ability to work independently.Ability to work in a team setting as well as contribute to a respectful workplace.Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams).Desired QualificationsCompletion of a recognized legal assistant training program or equivalent work‑related experience.Experience using legal research applications such as Quicklaw / Lexis Nexis, Westlaw and CanLII and conducting related internet searches.Knowledge of the Court systems, Court rules, policies and procedures.Experience with transcription from digital/oral dictation.Conditions of EmploymentMust be legally entitled to work in Canada.Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.Satisfactory Enhanced Security Check – Level III.BenefitsDefined pension plan.Life insurance coverage.Long‑Term Disability Plan.Employer‑paid health care benefits including health, dental and vision.Extended health care for services such as physiotherapy, chiropractor, massages, acupuncture and more.Annual health spending account for eligible employees.Employee and Family Assistance Program.Paid time‑off including sick leave, wellness days and family related leave days.Flexible work arrangements for eligible positions.Generous vacation entitlements, increasing with years of service.Parental, maternity, and adoptive leave options.Professional growth & development: in‑house training, educational assistance, leadership development programs.#J-18808-Ljbffr
