Responsible for verifying that PTFE semifinished products (rod, sheet, tube, skived film, etc.) meet dimensional, physical, and material specifications at two points: in the lab (formal testing, certification, non-conformance investigation) and on the shop floor (in-process checks, QC bin control). This is a hybrid role — roughly split between instrumented lab work and floor presence — and acts as the physical link between production output and the quality system.
Key Responsibilities
Lab Testing (~50%)
- Perform mechanical, dimensional, and physical testing on PTFE raw material and finished parts (e.g. tensile strength, elongation, specific gravity, compounded resin testing)
- Collecting necessary PTFE samples for testing
- Record test results and issue certificates of analysis / conformance
- Maintain traceability of samples to lot/batch numbers
Shop Floor QC (~50%)
- Conduct quality inspections across all departments to ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, and customer requirements
- Making production orders for the QC BIN
- Billet Tracking
- Perform pre -operation machine cleanliness inspections in the compounding rooms
- Escalate hold/release decisions on batches based on spec limits and documented criteria
- Hands-on- Sorting non-compliant PTFE material to determine if it needs to be reworked, restocked, scrapped, etc. (Forklift certified recommended)
