We are seeking an RF Engineer to support the technical management, production readiness and lifecycle sustainment of an RF modem module used within a next-generation communications network.
This is a hands-on, product-focused position suited to an engineer with strong RF hardware knowledge who is comfortable working across systems engineering, product development, manufacturing, test and sustaining engineering.
You will act as a technical point of reference for the RF module as it progresses from development and qualification through to production, deployment and long-term operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of the RF modem module, supporting RF architecture, performance budgets and technical decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.
- Review RF schematics and PCB layouts, ensuring robust design practices across grounding, isolation, EMI/EMC, shielding, thermal management and mixed-signal integration.
- Participate in design and technical readiness reviews, identifying risks, assessing impacts and driving appropriate mitigation actions.
- Work closely with manufacturing partners, ODMs and suppliers to support DFM/DFT, production readiness, test strategies and production ramp-up.
- Analyse manufacturing and test data to identify yield issues, performance trends and root causes, driving corrective actions through to resolution.
- Develop and support RF, functional and system-level verification, including EVM/MER, ACLR, phase noise, harmonics, spurious emissions and DVB compliance.
- Collaborate with firmware, systems and test teams on board bring-up, calibration, compensation, telemetry, diagnostics and hardware/software interfaces.
- Support environmental, thermal and reliability testing and ensure requirements are fully verified and traceable.
- Provide ongoing sustaining engineering support for deployed hardware, including failure analysis, field issues, component obsolescence and engineering changes.
- Maintain technical documentation and configuration control, while supporting product improvements, upgrades and long-term lifecycle planning.
About You
You will ideally have
- A BSc in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; MSc preferred.
- 3–6 years' experience supporting RF hardware in production or operational environments.
- Robust knowledge of RF components and subsystems, including LNAs, mixers, PLLs, PAs and filters.
- Experience reviewing RF schematics and PCB layouts.
- Familiarity with DVB physical-layer concepts and RF performance metrics.
- Experience with RF test development and automation, such as Python/SCPI or LabVIEW.
- Experience working with manufacturing partners and resolving production issues.
- Solid documentation, change management and cross-functional communication skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with satellite systems or user terminals.
- Exposure to systems engineering, requirements decomposition and verification planning.
- Experience working with ODMs or high-volume contract manufacturers.
- Familiarity with embedded Linux, Yocto or board-level bring-up.
- Exposure to EMI/EMC compliance and environmental or aerospace qualification testing.
- Experience sustaining products following deployment.
- Experience working with external vendors and product management teams.
- A track record of taking ownership of hardware beyond the initial design phase.
If you are an RF Engineer with experience taking complex RF hardware from development through to production and lifecycle support, and are looking for an opportunity to work on next-generation satellite communications technology, we'd be keen to hear from you.
