It’s a shared responsibility across our entire team.Reporting to the Supervisor, Field Services, theElectricianposition is responsible for the installation, maintenance, administration, and troubleshooting of intelligent surveillance systems, traffic management systems, and other technology located on bridges and associated properties. The responsibilities include installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic control systems.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to the Organization’s safety protocols, standards, and Safe Work Practices, including mandatory safety training, completion of Job Hazard Assessments, reporting hazards to the Supervisor Field Services, and taking corrective actions to address, mitigate, or control risks. Additionally, contribute suggestions to enhance the overall Safety program.Install, inspect, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre‑optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.Conduct tests on electrical and electronic equipment, assessing continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems, along with other related devices.Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair,
ensuring compliance with codes.Execute preventive maintenance programs and maintain detailed maintenance records.Maintain and troubleshoot traffic management and associated field technology systems.Maintain, monitor and repair HHB’s extensive roadway lighting systems.Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of surveillance camera systems.Conduct scheduled checks onelectronics in bridges and buildings.Utilize volt/ohm meters, oscilloscopes, and other equipment and software for testing and diagnostics.Participate in job‑related safety training and skills development as required.Perform other duties as assigned.RequirementsClean driving record and hold a valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License. Driver Abstract will be requested before employment.Demonstrate intermediate computer proficiency.Have completed and maintain Red Seal Electrician Certification.Capable of operating in high‑stress environments with minimal supervision, particularly in safety‑sensitive roles.Successful completion of physical demand testing and a clean criminal background check.Display punctuality, dependability, and a positive can‑do attitude.Willingness to work overtime or extended shifts when necessary.Effective communication skills with individuals possessing diverse technical/non‑technical knowledge, skills, or experience.Competent in working independently or collaboratively as part of a team,
ensuring efficiency while prioritizing excellent customer service and maintaining pride in delivering quality work.AssetsEssential safety training includes Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Aerial Lifts, WHMIS, and First Aid. If necessary, these courses will be scheduled by the employer for the successful candidate to complete.Position DetailsThis is aFull‑time, Permanent, Unionposition, working40 hours per week. Shift work, on‑call response, overtime, or extended hours will be required based on operational demands. The hourly wage for this position is$39.06, which is set by the terms of the collective agreement. Hiring1position.Working ConditionsThis role is classified as a safety‑sensitive position.Exposure to heavy to moderate noise is expected due to proximity to automotive traffic or working near moving equipment/vehicles on the bridge.Working conditions include variable temperatures and exposure to adverse or extreme weather conditions except thunder and lightning.Tasks may involve working at extreme heights (170 – 320 feet) above the bridge and in confined spaces below the bridge or within the bridge towers and responding to hazardous situations.Please note: The successful candidate must pass a background check, including a criminal record check, employment verification and eligibility to work in Canada.Employment Equity StatementHHB is committed to a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
