We focus on training and mentorship opportunities, celebrate our successes and offer enhanced benefits and wellness programs.The OpportunityReporting to and assisting the Manager of Facilities & Energy Management Services, the Facility Systems Supervisor and Chief Plant Operator/Engineer is a key contact that supports daily coordination of facility maintenance staff and operations. The supervisor oversees the operation and maintenance of buildings, properties and systems, supervises facility maintenance staff, manages redevelopment and improvement projects, and ensures all structures are safe for occupants and meet life‑support and medical patient care standards.Hours of WorkTypically Monday – Friday, 7:00–3:00. The role requires flexibility to support 24/7 operations, including on‑call rotation every third week and phone support as needed.Your QualificationsHigh school diploma.First‑class refrigeration certificate or third‑class power engineering certificate required.Red‑Seal journeyman ticket in Electrician, Refrigeration, Carpenter, Plumber,



or related trade considered an asset.Relevant Building and/or Facilities certificates/diplomas considered an asset.Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in plant maintenance, construction, or operations, or 3 years experience in building infrastructure in an acute‑care hospital setting, or equivalent.Experience in a women’s and children’s tertiary care facility preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge of hospital trades and interrelationships.Experience reading blueprints, construction documents, contracts and schematics.Knowledge of building systems, materials, codes and governing Acts and Regulations.High degree of judgment for handling infrastructure emergencies affecting patient care.Knowledge of Infection Control in Health Care facilities (CSA‑Z317.13).Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications.Proficiency with automated building control systems (Siemens & Johnsons preferred).Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (Megamation Directline preferred).Ability to handle emergencies.Strong organizational and prioritization skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong supervisory and people skills.High level of initiative, judgment and attention to detail, with sophisticated technical expertise, problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities to respond to engineering‑related problems and incidents, especially those directly related to patient safety.Ability to assess technical issues concerning clinical operations and plans.Ability to communicate and coordinate all actions required to maintain safety and efficacy.IwK Health is committed to an anti‑racist environment and values diversity and inclusion.
