Job OverviewUnder the direction of the Planning and Development Manager, this non‑union position is responsible for leading and implementing the City of Dawson’s economic development, housing, and strategic project initiatives. The Economic Development Officer (EDO) serves as a key link between policy and implementation by advancing priority projects, securing external funding, fostering partnerships, and supporting sustainable economic growth within the community.Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders to support development opportunities, housing initiatives, strategic planning priorities, and investment attraction efforts. The role requires strong project management, analysis of economic data, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and build relationships.QualificationsPost‑secondary degree in Economic Development, Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related fieldMinimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, planning, project management, or a related fieldDemonstrated experience in grant writing, funding acquisition,
and project deliveryExperience in municipal government or the public sector is preferredExperience working in northern or rural communities is considered an assetStrong understanding of economic development principles, land development processes, and municipal governanceKnowledge of funding programs, grant processes, and reporting requirementsAbility to analyze economic data, market conditions, and development feasibilityStrong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentationsAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgmentValid Class 5 Driver’s Licence requiredApplicants able to demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Salary & BenefitsNon‑Union management position.
