Ketamind Health is a multidisciplinary medical clinic specializing in chronic pain management, and mental health treatments.
As a Nurse at Ketamind Health, you will play a critical role in creating connections with patients and guiding them through their patient journey. Your friendly/calm demeanour, quick learning ability, and compassionate nature will be essential in this fast-paced environment.
We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) to join our team on a part-time basis. The position will include approximately three to four 6- to 8-hour shifts per week, typically beginning at 6:30 a.m. Scheduled days may vary based on clinic needs, so flexibility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs, pre-examination procedures, and electronic medical record documentation.
- Perform patient intakes and provide education on treatment plans.
- Assist physicians during ketamine infusions, nerve block procedures, and IV therapies.
- Initiate IV lines, and administer prescribed medications in accordance with medical protocols and as advised by the treating physician.
- Monitor and document patient symptoms, vital signs, and medical history while closely observing patients during infusion treatments.
- Provide education on pre-procedure preparation, post-treatment care, and pain/mental health management strategies.
- Manage medical supplies, coordinate lab and stericycle pick-ups, and ensure clinic equipment is well-maintained.
- Exhibit a warm, caring, and empathetic approach when working with patients experiencing severe mental and physical health challenges
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanour to create a supportive and reassuring environment for patients.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team while also being able to work independently with high efficiency and minimal supervision.
- Keep patient records up to date in the clinic’s EMR system.
- Perform patient check-in calls, schedule and modify appointments as needed,
and provide administrative support as required.
- Maintain the clinic EMR system.
- Ensure the clinic is clean and organized at all times.
- Participate in ongoing internal and external continuing education activities
Qualifications
- Current registration as an RPN/LPN in valuable standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Current BLS/CPR certification (ACLS preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience, including phlebotomy & IV infusions.
- Excellent intravenous skills are preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
- Experience assisting physicians with pain management, infusions, and nerve blocks is desirable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize and relay medical instructions clearly to patients.
- Passionate about providing high-quality patient care.
- Prior experience working with mental health or chronic pain patients is an asset.
- Highly proficient in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
