The Position

We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) / Pulmonary Function Technologist to join our Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory on a permanent part-time basis.

This is an experienced PFT position.

The successful candidate must have previous hands-on experience performing Pulmonary Function Testing and must be comfortable independently operating professional PFT equipment and associated diagnostic software.

MGC Diagnostics Ascent™ Experience Is Required

Our Pulmonary Function Laboratory operates using MGC Diagnostics Ascent™ Cardiorespiratory Diagnostic Software.

Candidates must have practical working experience with Ascent™ software and pulmonary diagnostic testing workflows.

This is a core requirement of the position.

Clinical Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Performing complete Pulmonary Function Testing
- Spirometry
- Lung volume testing
- DLCO / diffusion capacity testing
- Body plethysmography / Body Box testing
- Pre- and post-bronchodilator testing when ordered
- Six-Minute Walk Testing (6MWT) with oximetry
- Screening patients for testing contraindications
- Reviewing patient PFT intake information
- Explaining testing procedures clearly to patients
- Monitoring patient safety and comfort throughout testing
- Recognizing technically unacceptable studies and repeating testing when appropriate
- Reviewing completed studies for technical quality and accuracy
- Preparing completed studies for physician interpretation
- Communicating with pulmonologists and other physicians regarding testing when required

Equipment, Software & PFT Laboratory Responsibilities The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently with the technical operations of a Pulmonary Function Laboratory, including:




- MGC Diagnostics Ascent™ Cardiorespiratory Diagnostic Software
- MGC pulmonary diagnostic equipment
- Body plethysmography / Body Box equipment
- Platinum Elite Series™ equipment
- Computerized PFT testing and reporting workflows
- Daily equipment calibration and verification
- Quality-control procedures
- Equipment maintenance documentation
- PFT laboratory quality-assurance documentation
- Routine equipment and software troubleshooting
- Maintaining accurate electronic patient records
- Preparing testing information for physician review and interpretation

The MGC documentation confirms that Ascent supports data associated with the Platinum Elite Series™ body plethysmographs and pulmonary testing including SVC, FVC, DLCO, Pleth, MVV and other respiratory testing data.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have

- Previous hands-on Pulmonary Function Testing experience
- Previous hands-on experience using MGC Diagnostics Ascent™ software
- Experience performing complete PFT studies
- Experience with spirometry, lung volumes and DLCO
- Experience with Body Plethysmography
- Knowledge of PFT equipment calibration and quality-control procedures
- Appropriate Respiratory Therapy or recognized cardiopulmonary education
- Appropriate professional registration/certification applicable to the position
- Current BLS certification
- Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail
- Strong patient-care and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Professional written and spoken English

EMR & Documentation Experience with HealthQuest EMR is an asset.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain accurate clinical documentation, ensure completed testing is appropriately processed, and work collaboratively with physicians and administrative staff.

Quality, Compliance & Patient Care The successful candidate will be expected to:





- Follow established PFT laboratory procedures and quality standards
- Complete required quality-control and calibration documentation
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Maintain an organized and properly supplied PFT laboratory
- Participate in quality assurance and compliance requirements
- Follow Alberta Cardiology & Medical Consultants Inc. policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with physicians, technologists, MOAs and clinic management
- Maintain a professional and patient-focused clinical setting

Position Details Job Type: Permanent Part-Time

Schedule: Weekday/daytime shifts based on scheduled Pulmonary Function Testing and clinic operational requirements.

Hours: Part-time hours based on PFT laboratory requirements and patient testing volumes.

Work Location: In person — Edmonton, Alberta

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on professional designation, qualifications and demonstrated Pulmonary Function Testing experience.

A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check where applicable, may be required as a condition of employment.
