We work on a core technology for Apple. In this role you will have the chance to make a major impact in the way that Apple develops and ships iOS based products. Our working environment foster product innovation, rapid product iteration, and a liberating amount of autonomy.DescriptionWork with multi-functional teams to support product requirements for the iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch/AppleTV/Mac bring-up, verification, and debug of new hardware platforms. Develop firmware and drivers. Drive product features and functional/industry specifications. Involvement in specification for hardware platforms.ResponsibilitiesBring up new hardware platforms, from pre-silicon simulation through first boot on real siliconDevelop and debug the low-level firmware that starts every Apple productDebug hardware and software issues at the deepest levels of the stack, on simulators and in the labPartner with silicon design, driver, security,



and validation teams throughout the full bring-up lifecycleInfluence hardware design by reviewing specifications before silicon is builtDrive platform features from concept through delivery, taking end-to-end ownershipBuild the tools and automation that make the next bring-up faster than the lastMinimum Qualifications3-5 years proven experience developing and debugging systems-level or embedded softwareStrong proficiency in C or C++, and comfort reading hardware documentationSolid grasp of computer science fundamentals, operating systems, and computer architectureExcellent troubleshooting skills and a passion for qualityAbility to work with ambiguity and take ownership of a problem end to endWillingness to ask for help and learn from othersCommitted to encouraging an open and inclusive work environmentStrong communication, collaboration, and project management skillsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experiencePreferred QualificationsDemonstrated interest in embedded and low-level systems developmentExperience bringing up or porting an operating system on recent hardwareExperience writing embedded device driversProficiency with JTAG and other hardware debuggersFamiliarity with ARM processor architectureExperience with hardware simulation or FPGA-based emulationScripting experience in Python for test and automationPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $96,400 and $177,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience,



and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple Inc.’s discretionary employee stock programs. Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit award recommendations, and can purchase Apple Inc. stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple Inc.’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
