Protected spaces and opportunities are created for all to voice their thoughts respectfully, to learn and develop a deeper understanding of one another.JOB SUMMARYWe are looking for a proactive and community-focused Employment Outreach Counsellor to support newcomer clients by providing information, referrals, and employment-related assistance. The successful candidate will help connect clients to community and government resources, liaise with employers to develop job opportunities, support client intake and follow-ups, and assist with program and administrative activities while promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides information and orientation to newcomer clients on Employment Services and other agency programsResearch online resources for community and government resources to make appropriate referrals for newcomersResponds to client calls and schedule appointments for intake and assessmentLiaise with local employers to build connections,
increase presence and potential job leads to support successful employment outcomes for clientsMaintains statistics for monthly reporting and timely entries within internal and external systemsAssist staff with program support and coverage for reception dutiesConducts monthly follow-up calls with clientsOther duties as assignedSUPERVISION & MENTORING PLANSParticipant will be supervised and mentored by the Associate Manager of Employment Services.Participant will be introduced to the staff and provided with an overview of the agency and the Employment Centre.Training will include Health and Safety, Conflict of Interest/Confidentiality, HR Policies, including inclusion and diversity.Participant will be oriented to the program features and equipment, intake and referral process, available resources and how to access resources, and reporting requirements.Participant will work alongside the Associate Manager of Employment Services that will act as a mentor and coach.Participant feedback will be given to ensure that sufficient support is provided.HEALTH & SAFETY PRACTICESParticipants will be provided with the mandatory WHMIS training and oriented to HR Policies and Procedures.Full supervision will be provided, and a designated go-to senior staff will be assigned to provide additional supportPARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITYTo be eligible, youth must:be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been granted/conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.***International students are NOT eligible participants.#J-18808-Ljbffr
