COMMENCING: September 8, 2026, to June 30, 2027, unless sooner rescinded
COMPENSATION: $21.57 per hour
HOURS: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday,
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of ingredients, ensuring that all items are prepped and ready for the chef and the kitchen is clean and up to required standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
As the Prep Cook, your responsibilities and duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Supporting the Chef with food preparation
- Following food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Completing tasks related to cleaning and kitchen maintenance
- Supporting the management of inventory
- Contributing to the effectiveness of the kitchen team
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience working as a prep cook or in a similar food preparation role is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented workplace.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of basic culinary techniques, knife skills, and familiarity with various cooking methods
- Ability to lift, push,
and pull up to 50 pounds
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
- Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry
- Respect In School certification or equivalent
- Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines
- Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada
