The work term starts in September 2026 for a 12-month period in Calgary. The IT Analyst COOP Student reports to the Manager, RUBIX Billing Operations. This role utilizes business analysis and IT skills to ensure agents, supervisors, back office, finance, marketing and pricing/products have their needs met through the efficient operation of ATCO Energy's mass-market billing system. The student will work with the Operations team to maximize the success of all billing-related IT projects from ideation to release and sustainment.Who You AreMust be enrolled in a co-op (or internship) program at a recognized Canadian university.Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or related fields.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work effectively across a cross-functional team while supporting conflicting priorities and deadlines.Comfortable with changing job duties as the business grows,
including other duties as assigned.A tenacious problem solver who uncovers opportunities and implements processes that make the business run smoothly.Entrepreneurial mindset, results-oriented, with a desire to create or build new business.Business mindset with strong numerical, analytical and project-management skills, able to manage multiple projects and create efficiencies.What You Get to DoResponsibility Area #1 – RUBIX Billing System OperationsAssist with the daily production of customer invoices from the RUBIX Billing System.Assist with quality control on RUBIX inputs and outputs.Learn vendor operating procedures, configuration and custom scripting documentation.Assist with daily review and actioning of system event logs.Assist with ad-hoc querying of databases.Document business processes.Responsibility Area #2 – Incident ResponseAssist the Service Delivery group with incident response for RUBIX components.Assist with creating and updating IT service tickets in vendor portals.Maintain documentation library for all vendor products resulting from changes required to resolve an incident.Assist with identifying changes required to prevent serious incidents from occurring or recurring.Responsibility Area #3 – RUBIX Quality AssuranceAssist with QA and functional testing support internal and/or vendor development teams with technical solutions to meet business needs while ensuring adherence to ATCO approved IT project delivery methods.Assist in identifying test scenarios and ensuring adequate test coverage to prevent detrimental impacts in production.Follow testing discipline as directed by senior resources.Assist in reviewing client, customer, and user feedback on development and testing.Responsibility Area #4 – ReleaseAssist in identifying release risks, and work with vendors & IT Support to resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.Participate in Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews.Participate in the development of Deployment and Implementation Plans.Assist in Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.Responsibility Area #5 – DevelopmentApplication development and support utilizing languages such as Python, Power BI, and PowerShell.Create database ERD diagrams.Assist with automation, data analysis, and system improvements in a production billing environment.Only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.Equal Opportunity EmployerATCO is an Equal Chance Employer.
