Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Developer with strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE web application development, front-end technologies, REST APIs, Oracle databases, and modern application development practices. The successful candidate will design, develop, test, troubleshoot, integrate, and support business-critical applications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, J2EE, JSF, HTML/DHTML, XML/XSL, Spring, MyBatis, Bootstrap, jQuery, Angular/JavaScript, REST/SOAP web services, Oracle SQL, and Azure DevOps/JIRA. Public sector experience and familiarity with GO-ITS standards, AODA, TRA, and PIA processes will be considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Application Development & Programming – 65%
- Design, configure, integrate, develop, test, debug, and document applications using JAVA, J2EE, JSF, HTML/DHTML, XML/XSL.
- Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.
- Develop detailed programming specifications and write/generate application code.
- Design and continuously expand data pipelines through extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities.
- Develop and maintain n-tier, web-based applications using Oracle databases.
- Work with open-source technologies including Spring, MyBatis, Bootstrap, and jQuery.
- Develop responsive front-end solutions and AODA-compliant applications.
- Design and implement web services and application integrations.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs and connect front-end interfaces with back-end services.
- Work with emerging technologies and modern web application development practices.
- Develop reporting solutions using tools such as Jasper.
- Write and maintain Oracle SQL scripts and work with relational database management systems.
- Directly support the Agile/Iterative SDLC and implementation of business-critical software applications.
- Participate in application deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
- Full Stack Development
- Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end application components.
- Design and implement overall web architecture with focus on performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Design and implement user interfaces and database solutions.
- Create reusable, self-contained, and testable modules and components.
- Develop layouts for new and existing web pages.
- Work extensively with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular/AngularJS, and front-end interfaces.
- Ensure front-end code can effectively query and consume APIs.




- Design and implement RESTful API services and integrate front-end UI with APIs.
- Work with Swagger/OpenAPI definitions and RESTful services.
- Support continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.
- Work with associated areas including database design/management and DevOps.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems arising during software package implementation and operation.
- Provide technical assistance for application implementation, conversion, and migration activities.
- Analyze, modify, test, debug, and support product installation scripts.
- Provide post-implementation technical support and resolve production issues.
- Participate in design walkthroughs and technical reviews with project teams.
- Prepare and maintain user and system documentation as required.
- Application Architecture & Integration
- Work with application architecture, front-end/back-end integration, and API development.
- Develop web applications using Java WebLogic, Tomcat, EJB, and Servlet technologies.
- Implement and support REST and SOAP web services.
- Work with middleware, gateways, communications protocols, and enterprise application integrations.
- Apply current design patterns and structured application development methodologies.
- Support database integration using Oracle and SQL Server.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving – 30%
- Analyze complex technical and business requirements and assess the feasibility of available options.
- Develop customized technical strategies to resolve unique and complex problems.
- Provide recommendations based on technical analysis and business requirements.
- Consult with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and development needs.
- Lead discussions regarding system development options, technical processes, and application solutions.
- Demonstrate solid analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Collaborate effectively with IT professionals and project stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
- Maintain a strong track record of meeting project deadlines.
- Public Sector Experience – 5%
- Public sector application and information architecture experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of GO-ITS standards and public sector methodologies is desirable.
- Familiarity with Threat Risk Assessment (TRA) and Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) processes is an asset.
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements, regulations, and standards is desirable.
