As a Summer Camp Inclusion Leader, you will help children participate in camp activities, make friends, and enjoy positive social experiences. You may also assist with providing daily and weekly activities.



We have multiple positions available at both the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre and the Centennial Centre.Job Duties and AccountabilitiesEncourage each child to join activities by adjusting plans or modifying activities based on additional supports required.Support children in fostering independence and building confidence.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, children, colleagues, and staff from the Queen Alexandra Foundation.Complete required written documentation of each child’s progress as part of their care plan.Assist instructor with developing and coordinating the weekly program schedule to promote social experiences.Create and support a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment that encourages positive communication, diversity, and learning.Promote and enhance creative ideas in all program areas such as arts and crafts, dramatic play, music appreciation, science and nature and sports.Work as part of a team with other leaders and supervisors.Follow all safety, privacy and emergency procedures.Support smooth sign‑in and sign‑out and complete required documentation (attendance logs, incident reports).Ensure safe use of equipment and report hazards promptly.Communicate respectfully, and build positive relationships with campers, families and coworkers.Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, and light rain.Perform tasks of similar scope and complexity as required.QualificationsSkills, knowledge,



and experience with specific areas such as sports, arts, crafts, youth leadership and drama are an asset.Experience working with children with disabilities or additional support needs is required.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Customer service and public relation skills are required.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather including heat, wind, rain, etc.Minimum of 180 hours of experience working with school‑age children (aged 5 to 12 years).20 hours of proof of workshops/training courses.Emergency First Aid and CPR C certificate is requiredNote: CPR B is the minimum requirement for working in childcare positions. If applying for position at WSPR outside of childcare, CPR C may be required.Preferred Certifications (assets)Responsible Adult certificate.CLASS 4* unrestricted drivers' license.Training in physical literacy (Physical Literacy 101, NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills, Movement Preparation).Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate.Autism training.Crisis Prevention training.Additional RequirementsA explicit and current criminal record check is a condition of employment (employer initiated) and is the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.Benefits for Auxiliary employees include 14% in lieu of benefits coverage.
