Apply your expertise in trauma-informed counselling as a Counsellor at Athena's Counselling and Advocacy Centre. This role focuses on empowering women navigating the effects of gender-based violence.
You will be pivotal in delivering trauma-informed support to women’s experiences, using an intersectional feminist approach. Engage in both one-on-one counselling and group facilitation while collaborating with community partners to strengthen support networks. Your role will include providing compassionate service and fostering resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate therapeutic sessions for individual and group clients • Assist women in safety and action plan development • Promote connections with essential community resources • Address crisis situations with immediate interventions • Maintain accurate records as per agency policies
Requirements: • 3-5 years of counselling experience with survivors • Relevant degree/diploma in social work is preferred • Current First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certifications • In-depth knowledge of gender-based violence issues • Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills
