Children’s Aid Foundation of Nova Scotia (CAFNS)Interim Executive Director (Maternity Leave Coverage)Lead meaningful change for children and youth across Nova Scotia.The Children’s Aid Foundation of Nova Scotia (CAFNS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to step into the role of Interim Executive Director during a 16-month maternity leave. This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected provincial foundation that works alongside frontline partners to ensure vulnerable children and youth have access to the supports and opportunities they need to thrive.About the RoleReporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the organization. You will guide day‑to‑day operations, steward key relationships, and ensure strong financial management and governance while continuing to advance CAFNS’ mission and impact.You are a confident, cooperative leader who can step in quickly, build trust, and keep momentum strong.What You’ll DoLead & InspireProvide steady leadership aligned with CAFNS’ mission, strategy, and valuesSupport and motivate a small, dedicated team and engaged boardIdentify opportunities to strengthen impact and reachDrive OperationsOversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring efficiency and accountabilityMaintain organizational systems, compliance, and best practicesSupport board and committee work, including planning and reportingSteward FinancesManage the budget, cash flow, and financial reportingOversee bookkeeping, audits,
and CRA requirementsPartner with the Finance Committee on financial oversight and investmentsLead fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and key eventsWrite and manage grant applications and reportingOversee the intake and adjudication of grant requestsBuild RelationshipsAct as an ambassador for CAFNS with community partners, government, and fundersStrengthen partnerships across the child‑ and youth‑serving sectorSupport communications and public awareness effortsSupport GovernanceCoordinate board and committee meetings, materials, and follow‑upEnsure bylaws, policies, and filings are current and adhered toLead the Annual General Meeting and annual reporting processWho You AreAn experienced nonprofit leader with a track record in operations, finance, and fundraisingA strong relationship builder who brings professionalism, tact, and sound judgmentHighly organized and adaptable, able to manage competing priorities with easeAn excellent communicator, comfortable representing an organization publiclyKnowledgeable in governance and the charitable sectorQualifications5+ years of senior leadership experience (Executive Director or similar)Experience in nonprofit management, including financial oversight and board governanceProven success in fundraising and partnership developmentPost‑secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience$60,000 annual salary5% RRSP matchingBased in downtown Halifax, hybrid arrangement availableSome evening and occasional weekend commitments requiredPay: $60,000.00 per year#J-18808-Ljbffr
