Environment, People, and Place InternJoin Hatch as a highly motivated Environment, People, and Place Intern with interests in environmental and social impact assessments, urban planning and design, and community and indigenous engagement for an internship beginning inSeptember 2026. The role reports to the Regional Director, EP&P, and receives guidance from project managers you will be supporting. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other planners, designers, engineers, architects, and economists across our global offices, while working from ourVancouverlocation.What the internship offers:Opportunities to contribute to complex projects around the world in meaningful ways.Work on problems and gain experience relevant to your field of study in an office and/or field environment.Collaborate with diverse teams locally and globally.Work in an exciting environment where you can apply your academic learning on a daily basis.Benefit from informal mentorship from leading minds in environmental planning, impact assessments, engagement, and urban planning.Participate in Lunch & Learns, charity events, the triannual Student Showcase, and more to develop your skills.Join charitable, social, and sports activities with other Hatch employees.Your responsibilities will include:Contributing to projects at different phases, from ideation and scope development through to delivery and completion.Applying and developing knowledge in various EP&P areas, including environmental field surveys, federal and provincial impact assessments, engagement and community collaboration, ecosystem protection, placemaking and urban design.Preparing technical documents and reports, including writing, mapping, and visualizations.Performing and circulating news scans to keep yourself and the team up-to-date on relevant events.Presenting your work to relevant team members and clients.Assisting leadership, managers, and colleagues as needed.Your educational and experiential qualifications should include:Enrollment in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Civil Engineering, Geography,
or a relevant program from an accredited university.Strong academic standing.Interest in a career in the environmental, sustainability, engagement, or urban design sectors.Extracurriculars and knowledge or experience in a consultancy workplace undertaking related projects will be considered an asset.Competencies you should possess to be successful in this role include:Ability to think critically and creatively to create solutions for our clients’ toughest challenges.Quick learning and interest to take on new challenges.Collaboration and being a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong mathematical and data analysis skills, including using Excel.Performing geospatial analyses using GIS software will be considered an asset.CompensationRange: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour.At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
