Kanata North, Ottawa | Full-time, permanent | Reports to Engineering; pairs daily with our Cloud architect and signal analysis lead
About thinkRF thinkRF is the spectrum intelligence company. From our Kanata North (Ottawa) headquarters, we build the full stack behind SXM, our end-to-end spectrum intelligence platform: RF sensors, edge and cloud compute, and AI/ML analytics used by national telecom regulators, government agencies, and enterprises on five continents. Our sensors monitor entire countries; our analytics turn millions of RF measurements into decisions.
The mission thinkRF’s latest technological pivot is AI/ML-assisted spectrum intelligence, anchored by our RF Intelligence pipeline – a country-scale production system that turns millions of raw RF measurements into thousands of classified, geolocated emitters. Your mission is to take ownership of that codebase and ship the next generation of it: better models, faster pipelines, deeper attribution. This role is centered on building production systems with ML capabilities, rather than conducting ML research and then deploying it.
Your first 90 days at thinkRF
Take ownership of the RF Intelligence pipeline through a structured knowledge-transfer plan;
Ship one measurable improvement to production (classification accuracy, pipeline runtime, or emitter attribution quality), executing the end-to-end software development cycle (requirements, design, implementation, test and release)
Pair with our Cloud architect and signal processing lead on the feature engineering that feeds the models.
What you will own
The Intelligence Suite codebase: pipelines, models, evaluation, and deployment.
Model quality on real national datasets – accuracy that customers see in delivered reports.
The path from prototype to production: monitoring, versioning, reproducibility.
Mandatory
Successfully shipped ML systems into production, delivering value to real users.
Advanced Python development skills
Advanced Relational Database (PostgreSQL) and structured/tabular data (parquet)
Advanced ML and Data Analytics skills on python libraries as scikit-learn, scipy, pandas, numpy, networkx
Entry Level or advanced knowledge on AWS Cloud RDS, S3, Lambda and CloudFormation
Depth in classical ML – clustering, classification, anomaly detection on sensor or time-series data – reaching for deep learning when warranted, not by default.
A portfolio demonstrating your work: a repo, a system writeup, or a paper with your code.
Strong assets Claude LLM REST API for data analysis and enrichment
RF, SIGINT, telecom, radar, or spectrum monitoring background.
Ability to read and write signal-processing-adjacent code: spectral features, FFTs, detection thresholds.
Geospatial analysis and visualization (GIS, Leaflet-class tooling).
Edge deployment or model optimization for constrained hardware.
Eligibility for Canadian Reliability Status screening (due to sovereign data requirements).
thinkRF is an equal opportunity employer. All roles require legal entitlement to work in Canada; some work requires Canadian government reliability-level security screening and eligibility under the Controlled Goods Program, which we will sponsor.
