Quality Engineer (New Grad) — 6-Month Contract

Location: Markham, ON (4 days/week in office, 1 day remote)

About the Role

We're looking for a new grad Quality Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract, starting immediately. This role is ideal for a recent graduate from a co-op-model engineering or computer science program who has already built hands-on automation experience through internships and wants to keep building real, production-facing test infrastructure — not just executing manual test cases.

You'll work closely with developers to build and maintain automated test coverage, validate APIs and backend data, and help keep our CI/CD pipeline fast and reliable.

What You'll Do

- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites using tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress
- Write and execute API tests (Postman, Swagger) to validate service behavior, error handling, and edge cases
- Validate backend data integrity using SQL queries against production-representative databases
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitHub Actions) to support continuous regression testing
- Collaborate with developers during release cycles, participating in defect triage, root-cause analysis, and regression verification
- Track and manage defects using Jira, TestRail, or equivalent test-management tooling




- Contribute to ongoing efforts to modernize and refactor existing test frameworks for better maintainability
- Explore opportunities to bring AI/LLM-assisted tooling into QA workflows (e.g., automated defect triage, log analysis)

What We're Looking For

Required:

- Recent graduate (or graduating within the next few months) from a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related program — co-op/internship-model programs strongly preferred
- 1+ internship or co-op placement with hands-on automation, QA, or SWE experience
- Working knowledge of at least one test automation framework (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or TestComplete)
- Comfortable writing SQL queries for data validation
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, Swagger, or similar)
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working directly with developers during release cycles
- Able to work in-office in Markham, ON 4 days per week, starting immediately

Nice to Have:

- Experience with C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python in an automation context
- Exposure to cloud/containers (AWS, Azure, Docker)
- Experience migrating or modernizing a legacy test framework
- Personal or academic projects using LLM APIs for QA, defect triage, or workflow automation
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery and SDLC/STLC concepts
